What are the chances of getting a blue ditto?
I traded my Red Gyarados over to my blue version and have been catching the Ditto's east of Fushia...but no such luck so far.

The steps I use:

1. Enter battle with a ditto.
2. Ditto uses transform on R. Gyarados.
3. Red Gyarados uses Mimic(only move).
4. Ditto copies.
5. Throw ultra balls like mad until it finally gets caught...normally takes about 15 balls. :/

Also, isn't there a trick you can perform with blue ditto to transform other pokes into Shinies?
thanks

No. There is no trick I've heard that turns a Ditto Shiny. Your best bet is to breed for a shiny Blob, you're never gonna catch one w/out Sharking. AAAH!! I'm helping Rei!! My brain must be b0rked! XD

ditto eggs... i've sold kids on this before. sharked up ditto AND mew eggs to trade to my bud's kid, just cuz the kid likes me so much.

rei, when you say "ditto copies" do you mean uses transform for a 2nd time? if so, it SHOULD be working. as for the trick for turning other pokéys into shinies with your blue ditto, that's just breeding, plain and simple. unless something new has been discovered since i left, that is.

i'm surprised i remembered all that. ^_^

Here's why it's not working for you...

1) Trade Red Gyarados to a Red or Blue version (may work with Yellow as well).
2) Teach Gyarados Mimic.
3) Battle a Wild Ditto. (Note: This must be on Red, Green, Blue, or Yellow version)
4) Mimic "Transform".
5) Wild Ditto transforms into Gyarados.
6) Transform Gyarados into the Wild Ditto.
7) Wild Ditto transforms into Gyarados.
8) Catch Wild Ditto.

So, the move Transform actually gets used like 3 times, you must follow these STEPS exactly or somethin, or else it won't work.

And on the part about using the new Ditto you get (that will be blue/shiny) you CAN use it to increase the chances of getting other shiny Pokémon at the Daycare center in Gold/Silver/Crystal. Say you want a Shiny Eevee. Place your Shiny Blue Ditto in the daycare with Eevee. Each egg the two of them produce will have a 1 in 64 chance of being shiny. (Much better than chances in the wild)...

Yes, I know, Eevee is not found in the wild... just an example)

Bwhaha...I got one finally.
Thanks a lot.

But all of its stats aren't the same, aside from HP...his attack stat is 2 points higher than the others.

That's because shiny Pokemon can have many different Attack gene values.
