I haven't tested this yet, and I don't even know if it works.
But has anyone tried this?

Encounter a Wild smeargle with a Ditto in your team. Make sure that ditto goes first and uses mimic.
The wild smeargle will then sketch mimic.
Take out Ditto out and send in a Shiny(red gyarados?), and the Wild Smeargle will transform into the shiny.
If you caught the smeargle, will it be a shiny? I got this idea from the Blue Ditto trick.


btw, I know Shiny pokemon have bad stats, but the trick is worth a try if it nets you a free Shiny smeargle.

Transform is the move you are thinking of, not mimic.

Anyways, this doesn't work. I believe any Transform effects go away after the battle ends.

Also, you're dealing with moves that Sketch will *always* fail against.
