It's a brand new, never before seen Pokémon Stadium 2 glitch!
Following requirements
Poké Cup rentals: Mr.Mime & Xatu. Or, you can have your own Pokémon with Baton Pass & Substitute, and another with Fly.

Procedure

1. Initiate a battle, starting with a Mr.Mime. Use Substitute. If you want, use a Barrier or two incase you feel that something is going to happen with the substitute.

2. Baton Pass to Xatu (Or a Pokémon with fly).

3. Use Fly.

What happens now? Easy, the game locks up. It zooms in on the substitute, and nothing will happen after that. Though, the music plays, you can't do anything else.

A friend of mine told me about having something similair happen, but he couldn't remember the Cup it was in. Just that one three different occasions when Pidgeotto (or Pidgeot, I forget) used Fly, the game would freeze.

I'm not sure about the other modes, but in Free Battle, if your opponent runs out of PP, they keep trying to use a move and the game effectively freezes. *sigh*
~Uiru- how something so blatantly obvious could have been missed is beyond me.

I always assumed everyone knew about that "no PP" glitch. I discovered it when my match against the computer came down to a 1-on-1 with two Crobats, each with Toxic/Protect/Haze/Substitute. That was LONG.

I think the fly glitch is "new" (I sure hadn't heard of it). The 0 PP glitch is pretty hideous... the problem is that they kept the same old A"I" code while updating the interface (It didn't use to prompt you). So the computer doesn't know what to do, so it follows the "little brother approach", with the exception that you can slug your little brother in the arm, take his controller, and make him Run off...

How exactly do you trigger the PP bug? I successfully ran my Rival's Ho-oh out of Sacred Fire and Earthquake, and it switched to other moves with no trouble.

It has to run out of THEM, too.
~Uiru- It's got Giga Drain and Thunder in R2, I think.

It's because the CPU already knows the teams that Stadium, Gym Leader, and Rival opponents have, so it knows of backup plans on what to do if they run out of PP. But when it's taking over a team that you built, the AI only functions in a certain why and therefore, it doesn't know what to do if a move is out of PP. Hence the game lockup.

Does the PP bug work regardless of "AI level?" (a.k.a. Difficulty Level or Newbieness Level)

I ran my computer controlled lv.4 Dunsparce out of rage, and it started to Struggle. This was a Free Battle between just two pokemon, Dun and a rental Gastly. Dun only knew rage. What was supposed to happen?

It was supposed to lock up the game instead of using Struggle. You probably don't have the glitch. I think only certain versions have the glitch. Will the game break if it locks up(as in,you can't ever use the cart anymore?),I don't like crashing programs.

That was because it only HAD one move. If it had 2 or more moves, it would have run out while it still had PP left for something else. Since there was no "Backup Plan", the game would have locked, and the only way out would be pressing "Power" or "Reset" or pressing "Start" to run. However, with just ONE move, running it out means it's out of EVERYTHING, and it can Struggle. Use a TM on Dunsparce, then see what happens.
