I was sitting in the car on a long drive back to Toronto after a weekend in Montreal when I decided to start sharking certain monsters to transfer to my gold. Using my blue cartrige, I entered the codes that allow you to battle a specified pokemon whenever you pulse the GS. The code I entered was 01xx59D0, and I entered the hex for various pokémon. (This was, of course, repeated each time I wanted to get a new one, the pulsed, caught with a master ball, and saved.) For three of them, I tried the Level Edit Code, which I have as 01xx26D1. It didn't work and the pokes still came out level 0. When I went to start levelling them up, these three automatically jumped to level 100.

Little help? I got both these codes off of mlmiddleton's faq and copied them perfectly.

Hrmm.. Here's what my Gameshark scratch pad shows:

01XX1ED1 - Select Starter
(in pen next to it: 01XX59D0 r/b: better)

So that one looks right. Unlike most codes, by the way, I've only ever seen that code from JDonald, and it's way better than the old one: anybody have something like that for metallics? (instant battle).

01XX27D1- Select level of Wild pokemon
(also effects your pokemon if you level up after fight)

Then in pen underneath I have written:
01XX26D1 (yellow)

So my suggestion is this:

Red/Blue:
01XX59D0 - Immediate battle pokemon XX
01XX27D1 - Wild monsters level XX

In other words you were using a yellow code.

Nope. By now, I'm quite convinced that such a code doesn't exist for gold/silver.
