I don't rightly know.

We're all pretty sure that there aren't any more monsters in Gold and Silver. It's possible if they did a really great job of hiding them, however...

...but if we KNEW for a fact that monsters hadn't been found we'd hunt them down with a quickness.

I'm still not entirely certain what pokemon crystal is: it sounds like it links to the Japanese cell phone system, and won't ever be out over here.

From what I've heard, the American release will use the regular phone system, instead of just cellulars.

I'm downloading the ROM now, so I should be able to confirm or deny the existence of these new Pokemon shortly.

Well, I suspected that this couldn't be right, since there are 256 possible slots, and 251 are taken up by existing Pokemon, one by the egg, and 00 and FF appear to be reserved. The only way to do it would be to increase the memory space dedicated to Pokemon type.

I experimented with the ROM in NoCash, and confirmed that there are no new Pokemon. There's still only one byte for Pokemon type. The rumour came from someone who looked at the tile set and found several new footprints with numbers on them. But if they were actually going to use these footprints, why would the number be there?

I've got the Crystal ROM, and I've got a pokemon with 4 moves already on it. I'm going to build it up a couple more levels to see what happens when you learn a fifth attack, and what you can do with it.

What I do know is:

1) The game is CGB only. (Sorry, no$gmb demo users..)
2) The game itself is 16 megabits, the same size as American G/S and double the size of Japanese G/S.
2) You get 9 boxes, with a max of 30 monsters per box.
3) The save file for Crystal is abnormally large - 512 kbits if what I hear is correct. I don't believe such a large save file size is supported by any of the current well known emulators.
4) REW crashes whenever you catch a pokemon and you already have 6 pokemon on your team, and I don't know what happens if you drop a pokemon into a box. Prototype-D has bugged up graphics, and every other color emulator I've tried, save for no$gmb, crashes when you try to load it.

As for the new pokemon rumor, I haven't gotten very far in the game, so I can't say anything.

[Ed: The rumor about Pokemon not forgetting attacks - it's a false rumor. Pokemon forget attacks just like in the previous games.]

bad news for no$gb. i tried it as the girl for once. turns out when you save and reload, you ain't a girl anymore. i'm wagering more data is lost than just the gender, just can't tell what it is.

<edit>nevermind about any of this. checked out a few emus and found out i've totally overlooked the save states! it works fine in rew and no$gb with save states/snapshots, but no$gb is WAY faster! colors are better, too. i's just not free...</edit>

If you enter the gameshark code for catching a Pokemon, and put in the values "FD" in the slot reserved for the Pokemon, you'll see eggs. If you catch the egg, you'll see the Pokedex data screen, and it will show the footprint with the number 253 in it.

UPN said they found an N64 logo next to the footprints. They hypothesized that maybe the new Pokés could be gotten only from Stadium 3.

the most would be 255 possible, so only 4 new pokemon, unless they someow override the HEX values.

Silly fools.

I'm pretty sure 00, fc, fe, and ff are merely missingno's, while fd is an egg..
They'd have to totally restructure the game to allow the inclusion of more Pokémon.
