Um, what are they? It sounds like an anti-gs link cable that doesnt let you use sharked pokemon. if thats the case, then it is fake, as the game cannot recognize sharked pokemon. Hope that helps.

Which I personally think is a pain in the butt.

I'm against allowing legal Sharked Pokémon into battles against me - as the Sharker can control their Poké's stats, and also they don't have to put any effort into raising their creatures.

most people I know just use it to get rare pokemon, not to raise stats.

A lot of people I know use GameShark to get infinite items such as Rare Candy, which I allow. Mostly because Rare Candied Pokémons' stats tend to be lower.

Yeah - I'm happy to allow people to replicate items within reason - ie. They can rare candy as much as they want - or replicate TMs if they want - but I'm against mega-PP'uping.

I don't mind people sharking themselves a Mew or something - as long as they don't give it all max stats.

Its when someone makes a max stats creature - with a legal moveset and max PP. Then succeeds in sneaking it into the team it annoys me. As they hadn't got to make an efort to get a decent creature.

... but you can't tell, really.

Maybe straight up max stats is likely sharked (especially on multiple monsters), but just plain old really good stats can come from effort or a shark, and you'll never know.

That's why I'm ok with legal sharked monsters: it takes the whole "judging by your character..." nonsense out of the game.

And you can get PPups a plenty thanks to the generosity of type BIRD, and that's been the case forever...
