I did the stat EXP gameshark trick on my abra level 100...

218hp
47 attack
87 Defence
245 Speed
281 Special

Now...

218hp
50 attack
42 Defence
220 Speed
250 Special

If those codes give MAX stat exp.. why did his stats go DOWN and not up?

codes I used...MHPH 01??7CD1 FE

01017DD1
01FE7ED1
01017FD1
01FE80D1
010181D1
01FE82D1
010183D1
01FE84D1
010185D1

Genes:
01FF86D1
01FF87D1

What did I do wrong? any way to repair? what is the correct set of codes?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but for maxing out stats I think that you want to use "FF", not "01" and "FE". Again, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm would say to use:
EXP for Stats to be maxed out:
01FF7CD1
01FF7DD1
01FF7ED1
01FF7FD1
01FF80D1
01FF81D1
01FF82D1
01FF83D1
01FF84D1
01FF85D1

Genes:
01FF86D1
01FF87D1

My best guess is that if you've raised the Abra before using the Gameshark to edit it, you may have actually lowered its Stats' EXP with the Gameshark. In other words, you undid lots of training.

(Note: These codes are for the English Red/Blue versions.)

Stat EXP maxes at 255*255=65025, or FE01 hex. (according to Necrosaro)

I also understand that it doesn't naturally rise above it, so a monster with 65535 Stat EXP has an illegal value, and, while gaining to benefits from it, is a recognizable hack (no game makes this point... yet).

You used the codes wrong, probably because you used the Red/Blue codes and you have Yellow.

Correct codeset for yellow:

MHP:
01FE7BD1
01017CD1
ATT:
01FE7DD1
01017ED1
DEF:
01FE7FD1
010180D1
SPC:
01FE81D1
010182D1
SPD:
01FE83D1
010184D1
Genes:
01FF85D1
01FF86D1

If you for some reason have Red/Blue, and the codes you used screwed you up, try again.

Look on the bright side, at least you didn't save the bad Abra... (well, you sure would be silly if you had).

Meowth's codes will work, but only because your stat EXP is high enough and the game is OK with accepting 65535 as a valid amount of Stat EXP (I'm not sure if the game truncates that or is OK with it).

If anyone has evidence that the stat EXP doesn't work as I described, please post that.

Narcissus, if you *aren't* using Yellow, definitely post back... that would be very odd...

I don't know where this 256 x 256 is from, but I go by 16 x 16 x16 x 16 = 65536 = FFFF (actually it = 10000, but I don't have time to go into that). From my experiences in formula calculations, it MUST go up to FFFF in order to properly read out the max stats that some of my Pokémon had. If it stopped at FE 01 or whatever, then my Blastoise's stats wouldn't be as high as they are by a few points.

However, all of my work will be on my site once it's ready.

This is odd. I misunderstood your codes and only entered the ones with 'FE' in them, thinking that the '01' codes were for putting the stat exp to the minimum. It still got my stat exp to maximum, though. Hmm...

I can assure all of you that having stat EXP equal to 255*255=65025 (NOT 256*256, which is 65536, or 10000 hex) will give you a max stat monsters. So will Using FEFE hex (65278 in decimal) and so will FFFF (the maximum value for an unsigned 16 bit integer, 65535. 65536 = 10000 hex, one more than FFFF hex ). According to Necrosaro, Stat EXP naturally only goes to 65025, so that is what my codes do. However, stat EXP may naturally rise above that value, and simply have no effect (I haven't tested this). Putting the value higher has no other effect and seems to work just fine. The game may even truncate it back down.

I just use the number because:
(1) I trust Necrosaro (I'll test later because I'm anal, but I highly doubt that it's wrong)

(2) I don't know what the cart does when it sees a higher number (it certainly gives you the correct stats). It might, however, keep the higher value around, and this might be detected someday. I don't know one way or the other, though.

If I remember later today, I'll see if a Pokémon can reach maximum stats at the above values. Until then, I'll just try to remember to try it ^_^
