In a previous posting that asked about Water Sport and Rain Dance, I noted that one of them did not appear to be retained during a Critical Hit. I've since gone back and re-tested this to find out which was the one that did not get retained. I feel that the information I've come across since deserved to be posted here due to that original posting.
During individual testing, I found that both were retained. I rechecked the combined effect and found that they were indeed both retained at the same time. I must have punched in the wrong numbers on the calculator for the CH result for the previous trial, since multiple instances of CH in the current trial bore out. Therefore, what I've said previously is wrong.
Of the moves that affect damage (instead of changinf stats), Light Screen and Reflect stand alone as not being retained for Critical Hits. Mud Sport/Water Sport, Rain Dance/Sunny Day, Charge, and Helping Hand are all retained.
More importantly, I have yet to see any websites posting any information about what happens to stat changes during Critical Hits in R/S. While I've seen plenty about when CHs occur not having changed, it looks like people assumed that nothing else had changed.
The handling of stat changes during CHs has changed in R/S. They now act like it was once believed that they worked in G/S (before research was done into it). Modifiers that would lessen the damage are ignored, while modifiers that would increase it are retained.
It breaks down roughly as follows: 1. Stat changes that put the attacking stat above normal are retained. 2. Stat changes that put the attacking stat below normal are ignored. 3. Stat changes that put the defensive stat above normal are ignored. 4. Stat changes that put the defensive stats below normal are retained.
Any combination of stat alterations follow the seperate rules listed above. For instance, if the attack stat is below normal and the defensive stat is below normal as well, only the defensive stat change is retained.
I haven't tested items that alter damage, such as Light Ball for Pikachu, but as soon as I've done that, I'll update this topic (if someone else hasn't supplied the information already), then put a page for Hexagonal Research.

As promised, here's the information for items during a Critical Hit.
To put it simply, all items that affect damage are factored in during a CH, whether they boost offensive or defensive ability. Just in case somebody is wondering if I missed an item, what I checked are as follows:
1. Choice Band
2. Pokemon-specific items: Deep Sea Scale - Clamperl (since this affects Clamperl's Special Defense, it's not going to be relevant most of the time, since someone would have to allow it to be hit with a CH via Skill Swap). Deep Sea Tooth - Clamperl Light Ball - Pikachu Soul Dew - Latios, Latias Thick Club - Cubone, Marowak
3. Type-boosting items (such as Charcoal, Magnet, etc.)
That's everything, AFAIK. As I mentioned before, I've put up a page for the information. Some may find it easier to digest the useful information than my posting here (as in less circumstance garbage) or not.

Continue, great site man. Keep up the work and that can be the best site out there. What's good about your stuff is that it makes sense to read it, and it doesn't assume you already know everything. Plus it's well documented, easy to naviagate, and well, it's all dumb looking like alot of other places...
Anything I can do to help out?

Thanks for the compliments on the site. I'm of the opinion that the look for the site is still somewhat crude, but, eh.

Well, like its predecessor Metalloid, any contributions that anyone cares to make is welcome and will be credited if it's used in any way (assuming that I didn't already have whatever it was and just hadn't put it up yet).
For anything specific, my e-mail is in my profile or you could contact me from the ways listed at Hexagonal. I would prefer to keep this thread for discussion of the information presented here (if anybody actually feels like discussing that).

I got CHed in the battle tower and it seemed to ignore Reflect / Light Screen too. AFAIK, this didn't happen in GSC.
