This is the characteristic that Ninetales and Vulpix has, that some people think heals the Pokemon when hit by fire type moves. Infact, it works far closer to what Meowth says.

Flash Fire, on the first use of a Fire attack against, the Pokemon boosts the fire attacks from the user.

On any subsequent use of a fire attack against the Pokemon, Flash Fire prevents any damage being dealt.

Are you saying that when the opponent hits Ninetales with a fire attack, Ninetales' damage done with fire attacks increases, and fire attacks no longer do any damage to it?

Yeap! [Smile]

Talking about Fire moves.... it sound too obvious, but Will-o-Wisp doesn't affect Fire pokémon.

So you have to get hit by a fire move in order to boose the user's fire attacks? That'd be kinda hard to pull off. =/

Just to clarify, the Pokemon with Flash Fire won't take any damage from the first Fire attack either, according to my accidental test.
