How is stat exp from a given Pokemon calculated?

What Nintendo doesn't want you to know
Uiru: "Now that we're all used to the rules, clauses and by-laws... what would happen to the metagame if every one of them were whipped away?"
GP-Chan: "id probably quit every battle, and not just every other battle."
ThumbsOfSteel: "Why, because they broke the rules?"

I think it's based on the BASE STATS of the Pokémon you just defeated...

Yeah, I'm 99% sure it is, that's why killing a lv 5 mewtwo and a level 100 mewtwo gives you the same ammount of stat exp...

I know that much, it's pretty obvious. I'm wondering the actual formula. Or is it just equal to the base stat? Of course, I'd have to know wheter you're calculating base at 50 or 100...

The stat EXP gained is equal to the numbers given as base stats on the web sites I've seen.

What do you mean about level 100 or 50?
The base stats are not the stats at any particular level : you never actually see them without some kind of sharkery.

Some base stats are base 50, some are base 100. I think 50 stats are just half of 100. The ones in the ROM are based on 50 (I finally figured out something for myself from it!) BTW, does anyone know of a decimal to hex calculator? I'm way to lazy to do it in my head... Nm, I'll just program one. QBASIC = 0wnage. Kinda. Maybe I'll do it in Visual Basic instead. Yeah, I will. That's enough SPAM for one post.

Sorry, I still don't know what you mean.
But anyway, I dont really have any experience of the actual base stats, only the stat EXP. So it might be the same or it might not :P

But about the calculator : he default Windows calculator in Scientific mode can convert both ways.

Thanx for the calculator info. I knew I did my math wrong with the base. Bulbasaur's base speed is 45 and I was converting it to 2E, I saw 2D in the ROM and figured I did my math wrong, which was true. What's neat is it can also convert to binary, not that I'd ever need it. What is Oct supposed to be though? Is that base 8 (Hex being base 16).

Yes, Oct means Octal, or Base 8. And for the Stat Exp. your Pokemon is given the Base Stats of the opponent in Stat Exp. (Ex: If you fought and defeated Bulbasaur, it's Base Attack value would be added to your Attack Stat Exp, Def to Def, Speed to Speed, and, this one's weird, Base Special Attack to your Special Stat Exp. Yes, just like there is only one Special DV/IV/gene, there is only one Special Stat Exp, and, as inferred from above, comes from the opponents Base Special Attack, meaning fightng multiple Mewtwo and Alakazam will raise Special Attack faster than fighting other Pokemon.

Thanx anyways, but I have three very accurate sources:
1)Meowth's page
2)White Cat's Dex
3)The ROM itself, which is of course what I will use for everything I know the location of so I know it is as accurate as it gets.
