Well I know that this is so lame but here it goes.

To find out how good an attack is do this.
bA+AC+PP+*=Number
*status problems
just add the percentage of how often they happen.

This is a good way of teaching newbies or whatever.
What do you think of this maybe it has some usefulness in it ?

i suppose that you could do that buttheir other things to conceder, like the status elements of the move curse for example rases att and def and lowers speed except when used by ghosts so you cant calculate the effectivenees using that formula

At that rate...

Thunderbolt would be considered worse than Thunder.

Blizzard would be considered better than Ice Beam.

Moves like Rollout, Reversal, etc. would have no fixed score.

Support moves would be excluded.

Conclusion: Jon_Serrahn is a newbie.

Yes I'm still a "newbie". I know I'm not as good at Pokémon when compared to you guys but when I was just getting into Pokémon I used that formula to range how good a move was. I'm just trying to help give my info out to all of the hopeless ppl out there, you know just a push in the right direction(more than i can say for some people here).

Yes... but when it's raining, people know what to expect... You can catch 'em off-guard with T-bolt, but if your Ampaharos uses Rain Dance, they'll know what you're trying to pull.

Why does it really matter what they expect, since both attacks are now 100% accurate (or 99.6) and one is stronger?

Unless you survive long enough to pull four of them, sticking with Thunderbolt actually does more damage than RD + Thunder repeatedly.

Is it? Isn't one RD enough to power up multiple thunders? (5 I think)

Azure's system works the best, IMHO.

Though I'm not sure if this is it...

I check by this formula:

B*A*P

B = Base Damage.

A = Accuracy as a 3-place decimal.

P = PP (max).

With this formula, Thunderbolt's Total Power is 2270.88. Thunder's is 1336.22.

PP is often a moot point. Think Raichu'll last long enough to use 10 Thunders or 15 Thunderbolts? I doubt it.

Don't u mean "mute point"?

Anyways, all these "formulas" are extremely st00pid IMO. I mean think, Curse, Haze, CR, TW, how do you measure them, are they worth Zero according to the Azure formula? (the n00b one is so screwed it's irrelavent)

A good way to test a moves effectiveness is through good old trial and error.

SageofShadows: Don't u mean "mute point"?

Most likely, no.

Moot: Of no practical importance; irrelevant.

And PP can be relevant, especially if your fighting with something that's going to stay in battle awhie, but I really don't think it should be factorred in as much as base power and accuracy. It has importance, but not as much as the forumal gives it credit for.
