My friend said he rasied a magikarp to level one hundred and it learned (or tried to) all of the moves gyarados learns. Is that even possible? He had pokemon red.

Your friend is a serious liar. That will not happen by any means on any version of Pokémon. The only way it could remotely happen would be if he did some gamesharking, which, even THEN, would be so so slim, so, I'd say, 99.999999993% chance your friend is just a huge, ugly, disgusting liar.

This is just one of those things people say to make others waste the time of raising a Magikarp to level 100.

It's like saying Surf up and down until the batteries run out of power to get Mew (which doesn't work either)

Yup, my purely-trained L100 Magikarp still just knows Tackle and Splash.

But he's a beautiful shade of deep scarlet.
