Correct if I'm wrong, but a perfect stat pokemon should have a 70 Bug Hidden Power. My question is, if a pokemon's hidden power matches their type, would the pokemon then get a STAB when using Hidden Power. Also, is Hidden Power like any other attack in the sense that it will use your stats (attk, spc.attk) when calculating damage?

A perfect stat Pokémon (15 DVs for all stats) gives you a 70 Dark Hidden Power.

As far as I know they should get STAB.

And I would also guess that it should go by their corresponding stat things. (Ice Hidden Power come from SplAtk) etc...

However, regardless of Hidden Power's attack type, it is listed as a Normal attack. This means only one thing: Regardless of attack type, Hidden Power can always be Countered but never Mirror Coated.

When a Pokémon uses Hidden Power, Hidden Power is treated like its type based on the Pokémon's stats. When the opponent rebuttals (ie Counter), Hidden Power is treated as Normal type. Keeps the programming nice, clean, and simple that way.

What would we do without Meowth

Summary:

A perfect stat Pokémon (15 DVs for all stats) gives you a 70 Dark Hidden Power.

Hidden Power does get STAB.

Hidden Power goes by its corresponding stat thing. (Ice Hidden Power come from SplAtk) etc...

Correct? Seems to be.

P.S. Counter always work on Hidden Power. Mirror coat never will.

Don't forget Conversion/Conversion2. They treat Hidden Power as Normal type.

Weather effects, effectiveness, attached item bonuses (on type), whether attack gets STAB, and whether attack is physical or special depends on the determined type of Hidden Power.

I thought it was its DVs...

I didn't word it well

"Hidden Power goes by its corresponding stat thing. (Ice Hidden Power come from SplAtk) etc... "

Yes it does come from DVs/IVs/Genes.

What I meant was. If your Pokémon has a hidden power of Ice. Using Swords Dance before using Hidden Power wouldn't rase the damage it did. You'd want to use Growth. Cause it's power is based on the element it is. Since Ice is Special Based, it's based on special attack.

I heard Water and Fire HP's didn't get weather boosts... This is the main reason why I gave up on my Fire Power Espeon... *sigh* Heh heh.

I believe you should now retract your statement, as it is plain to see that although Raticata might make them look like geniuses, they still act like idiots.

Oh yeah, I'm green with jealousy.

You know, there's two types of people who say something like that.
Fat people and gay people.

Actually, they do. Just not in your reality.

Since we've already established you are 'below par' - Shall we say - I think we can dismiss that reality as the diseased one.

Why couldn't you people carry on like this at the Daily? I could shake my Authoritative Stick of Godly Modship Power and lock the topic. But here, all I can do is pitifully ask for someone to say "Yes, Uiru, Fire and Water HPs do get weather boosts" so I'll know what I'm looking for if I ever go for a Jolteon.
