Okay, I was thinking about this, and I'll use Marowak as an example.

Mystery gift with a friend who has Recover and Sketch on a Smeragle.

Have a Marowak who has Mimic (I think everyone in RBY can learn this).

Now, here's how the battle goes:

Smeragle uses Sketch, learns Earthquake.

Marowak uses Mimic, learns Sketch.

Hit Smeragle until his HP is low, and he's gonna recover, possibly with False Swipe.

Smeragle uses Recover.

Marowak uses Sketch, Marowak learns Recover!

Will this work? That'd be awesome if it did! You could use any moveset you wanted to with this! That'd be kinda cheap, but I wonder if it's possible. Does anyone know?

Nah, I bet it will Mimic the last move input, which was EQ. However, what if the Smeargle went first and used Sketch, it would fail, correct? THEN Mimic. Hmmm... interesting, I'll try it.

I may be wrong, but I think that Sketch is un-mimicable, to stop this kind of thing from happening. I also think it is metronome-locked, and sketch-locked (you can't sketch or metronome sketch). I may be wrong, but that it what I heard somewhere... *tries to remember*

It's been proven many times in the past that you cannot Metronome or Mimic Sketch.

Otherwise, I'd be running around with a Swords Dancing Aeroblasting Rock Sliding Aerodactyl or something.

Or a Sporing Electrode

Yeah that's right.
I think it was mentioned here sometime before Gold/Silver came out.

I don't think you can do that. It's impossible to Mimic/Metranome Scetch

Okay, I tried it, you can't Mimic Sketch. Too bad, that'd be cool if you could.

You actually think that being able to put any move on any Pokemon would be a good thing?

No, not really. I just wanted to know if it would work. Did you see I said "That'd be cheap"

Yes, but I was just wondering if that'd be possible. But it's not, so forget it.
