Well, I've been trying to find out what the Fishing Guru was meaning when he said "the world's longest Magikarp", and I could find very little. What can you make of it?All I can make of it is that... It can be any Magikarp, caught by fishing or surfing. SE is a nonfactor, and neither is Level. Genes IS a factor. My female Magikarp was 2'7" while my male one was 3'0" What I'm thinking: You have to get a Magikarp that, when measured by the Fishing Guru, it exceeds the height measurement of Magikarp listed in the Pokédex. I've yet to confirm this, because I can't get a Magikarp that big to amaze the fishing guru (my five-way-sharked-max-lab Magikarp scored 3'1") Any ideas on how it works? ------------------ Coming Soon... Has done some of his own research in the Karp and has reached the same facts.Okay, here are some quotes from my post about this at PF, some time ago. I had breed up a 3'6" Magikarp, and it had IVs close to 10 (power spike killed my data) Oh, and the formula can't work for the English. Yay! Porygon said this, but she just said what I said at a different forum.
quote: Umm, Yay Porygon, I know that Formula and I believe it doesn't work in the English version of the game, even if you could work out how to use it as the units at the end of the equation is centimetres (a metric measurement, which we use in my country) and the units the English game uses is Imperial measurement. See the divide by 10 at the end, common sign of a metric equation (trust me, I've done it for over 6 yrs in math). Once again, in hindsight I should have included that in my first post.

Well, there goes my theory about Karp length being longer than Pokédex height being a winner. I just checked the Karp in the 'dex and it said it was 2'11"Well, can anyone post their DVs up and maybe we could find that formula... My 3'1" Karp is 5-way max. ------------------ Coming Soon... Winners are those that have a length greater than the one listed on the sign outside the house. ------------------ ----------------------- /('.')\ Beware the Kirbys...

The genes go HP/Att/Def/Spd/Spc for your reference.
4/8/7/6/14 Length: 2'9"4/6/3/10/2 Length: 2'6" 15/9/1/13/1 Length: 3'3" 6/2/3/1/4 Length: 2'8" 8/11/6/12/14 Length: 3'0"
All I can think of right now is that male Magikarp are longer than female ones.

Well, there goes my theory that male Magikarp are longer...I tested 45 Magikarp DV sets, and here's what I got. Genesets (in ADSS order) are in hex: 1'11" 3200 2'1" 2200 2'7" FAAA (the max shiny!) F200 0200 FEFF 2'11" 7FFF 3'0" BFFF 3'1" FFFF (the 5-way max) DFFF F7FF FBFF FF7F FFBF FFDF FFEF FFF7 FFFB FFFD FFFE 3'2" 3400 DFFF 3'3" 0000 (the 5-way min) 0808 1000 2000 0010 0020 0040 0080 0001 0001 0004 0008 0800 0400 3'4" 4000 3'5" 8000 3'6" F000 F400 3'7" FDFF 0100 3'8" 4100 4'5" 8100 4'11" C100 From what I can see out of the 15, I think that Speed and Special DVs are irrelevant, although I have yet to test that theory. Rolken, you have Speed and Special mixed up in the HP DV formula. What do you mean by the x/x+1 formula?Well, there goes that theory of Speed and Special being irrelevant. I ran 17 more Magikarp. Here's what I got: 1'11" 3201 3202 3204 3208 3210 3220 3240 3280 4'10" C101 4'11" C104 C108 C110 C120 C140 5'0" C180 5'1" C102 5'2" C182 I still have no idea what the pattern is, since every single theory I have is WRONG. PS. You can snooker the Fishing Guru to give you more than one Ether (if you are lucky or you have a Gameshark), but you already knew that. If I'm right, the bar starts at 3'6" so get a 3'7" Karp (for one), then a 3'8" (for another), and so on... <edit> 3 more Karps for you!</edit> 3C01: 3'2" 0AAA: 2'7" 2AAA: 2'0" (the lowest possible shiny DVs)

What the hell is a "right rotate carry"? Is it like a bit shift?BTW, my Trainer ID is 07608, and the name is Idiotic. Also, Meowth346 is implying that the English formula is the same as the Japanese one, only extra steps were taken to convert it to imperial. He's also implying that he has this formula. What is it? And, on an unrelated, but still gene-related topic, what is the Unown Letter Formula? ------------------ Coming Soon...
