Bide takes in damage and sends it 2x back to the opponent. In r/b/y I'm pretty sure it was only to physical attacks, but how about g/s. There is afterall special attack now. Some help on Bide would be appreciated. Thanx in advance, I'll be back. ^_^

Oh yeah, another question, on spikes. Deos damage take place everytime the opponent switches, or only on the spiked poke. Could someone explain?

Nope, Bide is still the same.

Spikes affects the Opponent's Pokemon everytime they switch, it doesn't matter who they switch to, that Pokemon will take damage unless the opponents Pokemon is a flying type.

Bide is best taught to tanks, like Snorlax or Chansey, that can take a lot of damage.

Spikes does damage every time the opponent's Pokemon is switched.

when someone sees bide being used, they'll take the free turns supplied to defense curl, double team, swords dance, etc. they'll wait until your attack misses (due to 0 damage built up) or does minimal damage (from one attack that hit the first turn) to rip you a new one.

bide is only useful if the opponent does a substantial amount of damage in that first turn, in which case he'll take the other two turns or so to do an equal amount of damage and prolly faint your pokéy before you get a chance to hit back.

imho...

First of all Doctor, Special Attack technically was in RBY, it was just the same thing as Special Defense.

Second, Bide absords all damage. Only Counter didn't, which only only could rebound Normal and Fighting attacks.

Third, I once thought of a way for Bide to be used: Very Fast Pokemon. If you have it on a speed demon with a quick recovery (like Starmie), you can start Biding before the opponent's attack hits you, so they can't do anything for that missing that damage.

Then, they'll either try to finish it off or switch to someone to take the blow since there is no way to avoid the damage (bide always hits, no accuracy or evasion modifiers take affect, i do believe) Of course, this method does suck, but hey, all the others suck more.

I think the only way to avoid bide is to use fly or dig.

Protect/Detect might work as well, I wonder if anyone tryed it.

The only reason I can think of to use Bide is with Encore, and I think only Shuckle and Smeargle can use that combo. Both have crappy HP, so it isn't worth it anyway.

Well, Clefable can learn the Encore/Bide combo too....

Funny, I was just about to mention Encore/Bide...

And if you Encore a Status Altering move, you can mow them down with Seismic Tosses or something...

I guess it only benefits on fast pokemon, because if on someone like chansey, you could take advantage of the turns and Recover, power up etc. A Starmie is good with it... Any more?
