Hi people!
Last night I caught the three legendaries dogs/cats/beasts after a few tries...

1- I evolved a Crobat L39 and them used Mean Look on the beasts. How I was surprised when Suicune Roared me...

2- Searching on my Pokédex the area where the were , I hunted them with an Exeggcutor L100 that knows Sleep Powder. When I battled one of them, I used SP and about 4-6 level balls. I had to use also Leech Seed against Entei, because he is harder to catch.

So, what you need to catch them is:

1- Free them in Ecruteak City
2- a L100 with some Sleep attack
3- Track them on the Pokédex

The last step can be done this way: every time you enter a new area (another route or a city), you can kind of "feel" that. The character becomes freezed for a bit of second, and sometimes the music changes in this point. All you have to do is walk over these points forward and back, checking where the Legends are (the locations change everytime you pass through one of these). This can help the hunting!

Okay, see you! Hope this help someone

Another tip-

walk around with a lvl 39 jumpluff (with sleep powder) and a max repel. jumpluff trained well at lvl 39 is faster, max repel fights off all pokemon under your level, that way only the dogs will come and get u unless ure fighting in a place with over lvl 40 pokes.

I belive the only place with over L40 pokés in Johto is Mt. Silver. I don't think they appear there at all, but I'm not sure. (?)

No, they don't appear at Mt. Silver.

Another thing with Max Repel is that it is easier if you track the legends with the Pokédex, then when you are in the same area one of them is, use Max Repel and let a pokémon under lv 40 be the first of your group.

Remember if you use Max Repel, the chances using Level Ball will decrease.

Another thing! For a Level Ball, get a Red Apricorn between Ecruteak city and Relaxation National Park (the Bug Catching Contest place) and give it to Kurt, at Azalea town.

I just thought of something.....

If you were to use Max Repel with a L39 Pokemon at the front of your party in an area where one of the legendary beasts were, would Sweet Scent bring out the beast instantly, make you fight one of the usual Pokemon in that area, or just do nothing?

I tried using Sweet Scent together with Max Repel. You just fight the normal Pokemon from that area.

Don't worry, the legendaries come out fairly quick when you're walking around with Max Repel on.
