Looking about for a formula or study into how the gameboy game calculates experience that you earn from a battle. Anyone seen anything like this?

I was considering looking into it myself... what I noticed is that generally pokémon with higher base stats give more exp... but this is very unproven.

Another thing I noticed is that it increases linearly by level. Take RBY Tentacools, whose levels are in intervals of 5. A L5 Tentacool gives you 75 experience. L10, 150. L15, 225. L30, 450. Which means that Tentacools give 15 experience points per level it is.

But the correlation, and how that number 15 is found, I still have no idea. Anyone want to help me expand this?

Exp awards are calculated from Exp factors and Pokemon levels. The factors are unique to every pokemon.

The best place to look for the calculation method and the factors is www.teampa.f2s.com

Metapods give slightly more experience than Kakunas. It's more like 51 EXP for every 5 levels for them.. but then again, you probably won't be fighting Metapods or Kakunas over lv6-7 or so unless you cheat, and that belongs somewhere else
