I was wondering... it is quite hard to make your pokémon love you, thus doing more damage with Return.
So, why don´t people use frustration since it is easier to make them dislike you? If they are becoming happy, just trade them then get them back to restart their happiness stat. This means that Frustation will be doing max base damage, right?

No, happiness ranges from 0 to 255, and a traded or newly caught Pokemon starts from 70. Also, remember that a Pokemon gains happiness from leveling up, so it's quite easy to be at maximum happiness when you get to level 100.

Well, have you traded pokémon who loves you? When you get them back, "they are not used to you", what means that their happiness level is around 70, right?
So, just buy some itens from the old woman under Golden Rod City and give them to your pokémon. They are bitter, so the pkmn won´t like them, becoming more sad.
Well, I think it is easier to make them frustated than happy. Of course I would like my pokémon love me, and also I will grow them to level 100, but this is a kind of trick to get max damage with this attack.

I remembered why I posted this topic!!

When I traded my L100 pokémon from Blue to Silver, all of them weren't used to me!

Since they start with happiness 70, it is easier to use Frustation instead of Return, and making them more "sad".

What's the max base damage Frustration/Return can do?

It's either 102 or 120. I've never had a clear response to that question. It doesn't matter, either way it's a powerful attack. Put it on an Ursaring, and watch the flesh fly!
