Aside from the type and PP differences, what sets them apart? My guide lists their effects as different, but I've ran some tests and I couldn't figure out what.
(Oh, and Darryn's GS moves lists don't seem to work in my browser)
After 57 turns of battle with my Eevee using only Defense and Abandon in a somewhat random order, the only things I concluded were:
#1. Defense and Abandon do not auto-fail the second time you use them in sucession, but their chance of sucess is greatly lowered (I got three blocks off with Defense). This was in my guide as well.
#2. Defense and Abandon both count as the same attack for the purposes of using them alternately, that is, you cannot negate the lowered chance of sucess on the second try by switching between moves.
Abandon should be better than Defense simply by comparing their PP and availability, but I can't quite see how.
