I'm gonna have to make this quick (I have to go to Church in a minute) So i'm sorry if it's a bit cryptic... (I'm going to assume you know about Hex and such) ANYWAYS - Starting at 51AA9h each pokemon has a 32d byte long entry which includes information like Base Stats, Types, Sex Ratio, and TM Compatibility (Evolutions and Natural Abilities are located somewhere else - Cann't remember at the moment) The 14th entry (assuming the first one is 1 - BTW the first entry will always be the pokemon's # so you can know if you're at the right spot) is the byte that tells the Sex Ratio; Here are the possible values:
0 = All Male
31 = 7/8 Male
63 = 6/8 Male
127 = 4/8 Male
191 = 2/8 Male
254 = All Female
255 = Genderless
I think that's all you need to know... Post anymore ?'s you have... *WOW* I just realized Neo asked that Have I already become someone important??

Hmm...

31 = 0001 1111
63 = 0011 1111
127= 0111 1111
191= 1011 1111

Maximum possible attack gene for a 7/8 male pokemon to be female: 0001 (0-1 = Fem)
Maximum possible attack gene for a 6/8 male pokemon to be female: 0011 (0-3 = Fem)
Maximum possible attack gene for a 4/8 male pokemon to be female: 0111 (0-7 = Fem)
Maximum possible attack gene for a 2/8 male pokemon to be female: 1011 (0-11 = Fem)

So it probably special cases Genderless and constant sexed monsters, then, to find out whether a specifc (non constant sexed or sexless) monster is male or female, ORs the attack gene with 00001111, then compares to see if it is greater than the value you just found (the table value for that monster). If it is, then the monster is considered male.

Of course, without disassembly, this is all speculation, but it would seem to work...

Great work on finding that stuff, and congratulations on having the preserverence to make the list up. This kind of stuff is quite cool

Wouldn't natural selection make all ratios equal? In the real world, anyway...

Well, it wouldn't be natural selection necessarily... it would actually behoove most species to have more females than males, as a simple example will show:

M:F ratios:

Ratios 3:1 1:1 1:3
It1a 12:4=16 8:8=16 4:12=16
It1b 4 preg 8 preg 12 preg
It2a 15:5=20 12:12=24 7:21=28

Let's ignore the first case (more males) and dismiss the second case as trivial (population increases by 1.5 each birthing cycle). The more females case clearly resulted in a larger population.

Why isn't this done? Well, there may be some conditions involving creatures meeting, etc., and having an even balance is better if cataclysm strikes an area (being reduced to 6 members of the species of an area is more likely to include at least one of both sexes if the ratio os 50-50).

Probably it just isn't necessary. Three sexes would get genes spread even faster than two, but it's just an added headache, so wasn't selected for...

And it would explain why certain monsters are rare, right?

ROFL!! Me and preserverence DON'T go in the same sentence together... EVER!! I'm as lazy as they get... I spent about a minute writing a program, another minute swearing at the program for not working, one more minute swearing at myself for the mistake I made ( ) and then a last minute posting all that... let's see that's... someone else add it up - I'm too lazy

Yea but this ain't the real world now is it?? There are reasons for most of the ratios though... if you notice the 7/8 male ones are all "rare" pokemon - This is so it's harder to breed more of them as they are "supposed" to be special... also anyone w/ good stats or a good ability is genderless (Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Houou, Serebi, Starmie, Electrode, etc. :P)... and finally some pokemon would just be wierd if there were male AND female versions (I.E. Nidorans, Hitmons, Jynx, Kangaskhan, and Chanseys)... the rest are 50:50 ratio (Except the ones that are masculine or feminine - They have a special ratio)... Though I'm curious about the thoughts behind letting Machamps be female

Normally, I get pissed off at the bump/delete gnomes when they do their magic, but this was a good one to bump.

Oh rats. I thought I was the only one who knew how to invisibump. This was officially my first invisibump.

EDIT: I'll only ever bump ones I find useful and think other people might find useful too. So don't be surprised if you find a useful invisibumped post once in a while.

What Nintendo doesn't want you to know
Uiru: "Now that we're all used to the rules, clauses and by-laws... what would happen to the metagame if every one of them were whipped away?"
GP-Chan: "id probably quit every battle, and not just every other battle."
ThumbsOfSteel: "Why, because they broke the rules?"
