Is the E4 really the best place to gain stat exp? I thought that it didn't matter what level your opponents were, just their stat to level ratio had to be good. Besides, I'm sick of seeing that bloody credits for the thousandth time! Oh, and how many times would anyone else here normally go thru the E4 to get to max stats after boxing to lv 100? I've gone thru at least 5-7 times now and only saw very small gain, 1-2 points per stat.

Well, for someone that doesn't know about the PC Box for raising stats, I would say that the field west of Viridian is the best place for raising PKMN. However, I've never taken the time out to check for battling without worrying about reaching level 100. But I would suggest Cerulean Cave instead of the Elite 4.

Sorry, I just noticed I didn't mention boxing in the previous post! , I do know about the box... but I read somewhere that for gaining stat exp it didn't matter what level pokemon you go up against as long as their stat level was good. ie don't fight Ditto's, go against Dugtrios instead. See I was led to believe that going up against guys with high special would boost your special up faster, and so on for the rest of the stats. Or does it not matter anymore once you get to 100?

Ummm from personal experience... stat xp comes best from fighting scrubs.... i think a pokemon gives you stat xp regardless of levels... ie i went through the final 4 about 6 times with jolteon(thanks dodrio mode) and gained about a point in each stat... tore up stuff fighting level 20 scrubs... like killed 40-50 in about 10 minutes and gained about 3 in a couple stats

Scrubs? You lost me there, the only time I use that term is when I see someone playing a fighting game and all they do is mash the buttons really fast and hope a good move comes out, basically they rock at Tekken but get thrashed at Street Fighter ! So you mean like the normal guys you fight against in the normal caves and stuff, or in grass areas along some route somewhere, near safari zone?

Fighting guys with good stats is the best way to gain stat exp, period.

The "good stats vs. low EXP" issue is just if you want to max out your Pokemon at a level other than 100. Otherwise, you have to do the same amount of fighting anyway.

I personally prefer the E4, but if you hate the credits, go for the Cerulean Cave.

It also all depends on what game you have. In Red and Blue, the Cerulean Cave is the best place, just go down to the bottom level and fight nothing but Chansey, Rhydon, Voltorb, Alakazam, and Cubone.

However, from what I understand from my brother's Yellow, the Cerulean cave is just as bad as victory road (i.e. most rock/ground types) so you'd be best off moving around. For Speed and Special either fight Tentacools or in the pokemon tower, and for attack and defense fight in any of the caves.
