Author Topic: Question about evolution stat bonus

As a preface, just stumbled across this site and the forum, I praise it as a godsend

Now on to the question:
I may have completely misinterpreted the evolution section of the training guide, but here's the part that boggled me slightly:

It's true that if you delay your Psyduck's evolution until L99, it will receive a very large statistic bonus upon evolving. However, this stat boost will be exactly equal to the larger level-by-level gains that Golduck would have been making if you had evolved at an earlier level.

Should that have been "this stat boost will not be exactly equal..."?

In other words, if I don't evolve a Rattata for 99 levels, then at level 100 finally evolve it, will the stat boost be exactly equal to the gains I would have recieved by evolving it as soon as possible and leveling it up to 100?

That would be true ONLY if both methods of training were exactly alike, i.e., EVERY battle was the same.

Chances are that the path of stat exp. acquisition will be different.

However, the stats should be the same in the end via box trick.

A viscous,Psychic Pokemon that was created by a scientist after years of horrific gene splicing and DNA engineering experiments. It's DNA is almost the same as MEW's. However, it's size and disposition are vastly different. It's cold, glowing eyes strike fear into it's enemies.

Actually, the bonus gained by leveling up would be the same (essentially) regardless of the level up method. By then, most stat EXP would have been aquired, since the level in question is between 99 and 100.

Basically, what that says is that you will get a huge bonus for evolving 99->100, call it X points, but if you had evolved as soon as possible you would have gotten X over the course of all the other levels such that when you leveled from 99->100 your end stats would be the same.

No advantage for not evolving early.

It would gain a large stat bonus, but it would be ultimately equal to the stats of a regular evolved Pokémon-say a Pidgeot, evolved at L36. Of course there are many factors involved in this, such as Rare Candies + Calcium, Carbos, HP Up, and the like, which all might make the final outcome different and have one of them have higher or lower stats.

But I haven't done much research on this topic, I tend to evolve my Pokémon right away. Hope all of ya understood that.

any questions?
