And I'll be damned if those aren't the lamest rules ever.

Sounds like it would be fun to watch if I lived anywhere near there.

Any old timers planning on attending?

I'm keen to go to the final for nostalgia's sake.

Stupid rules, but, hey, the allure is too great and I'll be going along =P

Although getting past Round 1 will probably be nigh-on impossible. Oh well.

Yeah those are gay rules. They should have just done 6 pokemon at level 50 since it would have made things easier.

I mean, half the fun of level restrictions like that is to win with a Quick Claw Destiny Bond Koffing getting the first kill. Item ban? Lame.

I went to the one at the Metrocentre in Gateshead and it was mildly amusing. The actual set up was crap. Basically they just had a copy of PokeCol on one of the TRU demo machines, which was being baby sat by some guy who didn't know squat about Pokemon and didn't care. He wouldn't allow anyone to link up their GBAs which was unbelievable. The Gamecube had two controllers hooked up but PokeCol requires at least one GBA for two or more players, so the battles were against the computer only.

The draw was equally bad - only one person from that store was allowed into the proper competition. Predictably some 8 year old won who probably didn't even own a GBA. If just one person out of the 40 in the competition has a semi decent team they will win easy.

The only redeeming feature was the fact some other people turned up. Got some new bases, did some trades, had a few battles and won a 4 player contest (filling in the last line on my trainer card). I still don't know why they couldn't have had an actual tournament to decide who went through. Even with one GC it would have been easy.
