My current team:
Snorlax - Body Slam, Earthquake, Fire Blast, Selfdestruct *Quick Claw*
Forretress - Curse, Spikes, Explosion, Bug Power *Quick Claw*
Machamp - Curse, Body Slam, Cross Chop, Earthquake *Leftovers*
Aerodactyl - Ancientpower, Fire Blast, Earthquake, Wing Attack *Leftovers/Miracleberry*
Zapdos - Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Whirlwind, Drill Peck *Leftovers*
Lapras - Surf, Ice Beam, Confuse Ray, Body Slam *Leftovers*
However, my team has been getting its *** handed it to it in recent battles by Pokemon who power up like mad. I almost got beat by an Eevee team until Zapdos got lucky with WW (the opponent had 6 DTs and 6 Curses passed to Eevee), got 6-0ed by a BDing Clefaggot, and recently lost to CurseBlissey.
I've decided to go with Donphan as a psuedo-hazer, with a planned 'set of Roar, AP, EQ, Rest/Rapid Spin *Leftovers*. However, I'm not sure who to drop.
On paper, Aero's gotta go - but his AP has been boosting like mad recently.
Zapdos is my main Electric threat, but can't psuedo-haze well unless I get him out early.
And the Paracon Lapras has fared well (despite being assraped by Lady Luck), but hasn't seen action much.
Machamp, Snorlax, and Forry are locked in - Machamp as a Blissey counter, Snorlax for early pwnage, and Forry because I want a Spiker. Plus, he's a good anti-Psyker ass/u/meing they have no Fire moves.
So...
Who is the weakest link?
Edit: Clarification

HAAAAAZE. Get a real Hazer! I have no idea who you should replace for a real hazer, but you should. Double Team has been making another comeback (with the people I battle, anyway). Haze is good. Use Haze!

I have never used a Machamp, but has he got the staying power to pull of a couple of curses?

Hmmm....a snorlax with a self-destruct always get's owned even with a quick claw...just go for a curselax with earthquake, bodyslam, curse, rest and give'em a leftovers. Drop fireblast on him definately...the chances of you running into a skarm are not very likely. I say you should keep that aerodactyl cuz with an ap boost and his awesome speed he can be very lethal...drop the fireblast for a dragonbreath though for some paralysis. Oh, and if you want a good hazing pokemon use a dragonite.

I have found excellent strategic use against starter Umbreons. I simply switch in Charizard and get a free Belly Drum in. They can DT as much as they want or Baton Pass to whoever, but one hit = OHKO.

Jumpluff. Use it.

The end-all be-all list of Hazers:
Arbok
Crobat
Koffing
Vaporeon
Quagsire
Murkrow
Blastoise
Poliwrath
Politoed
Tentacool
Dodrio
Muk
Gengar
Kingler
Seaking
Omastar
Dragonite
Xatu
Qwilfish
Octillery
Mantine
I STRONGLY recommend using a Hazer. My team can OHKO any of your pseudo-hazers with AP boost, but if it's a slow Pokemon, Haze really hands my ass back to me. It also 0wns my Corsola. It is NOT funny to get 3 Amnesias and 6 Curses Hazed away because I'm slow. It also destroys Curselax.
BTW, someone called my Corsola cheap. What do you think?
Corsola @ Leftovers
Amnesia
Curse
Ancient Power
Surf

Snorlax: I like counter over earthquake, but this way it can deal with rocks. Keep it like it is.
Forretress: I still don't like the idea of curse on him as special attacks take him out easily and quick claw takes a lot of luck. If it works for you though, keep it.
Machamp: I'd recommend rock slide over body slam.
Aero: should go for the donphan, otherwise it's a pretty good set.
Zapdos: blah
Lapras: good.
Overall: not a bad team. Donphan will definately help out.

Time for some re(_Y_)al.
Frazze: I have never used a Machamp, but has he got the staying power to pull of a couple of curses?
My plan is to Curse on a switch-out, then go as needed. I just need to run some numbers on whether Machamp + 1 Curse can OHKO 'Kazam with Earthquake. It's based off Jolteon_X's Medichamp, except I get the Defense boost as well.
Nobie: Jumpluff. Use it.
I would, except 1) I've got a nasty Ice weakness already, and 2) Since everybody and their DOG has a HBer, status inflicters often are a waste of time.
SpunkDawg: a snorlax with a self-destruct always get's owned
That's kinda the point...
just go for a curselax
I'm no longer going to listen to you. And BTW, Dragonbreath on Aerodactyl SUCKS.
And one last note to jshadias and PowerAngelic - how does it feel to be the first prole RPGamers sent two years into the future?

send there heal beller to sleep and watch the expresition on your oppoments face!
Posted by Atma (Member # 689) on 07-17-2002, 06:06 PM:
(1) Dump Forretress for Donphan. Spiking is not needed (especially when your problem is people who put a pokemon in and power it up instead of switching), and Cursechamp is good enough as anti-kazam.
(2) Replace Machamp's Body Slam with HP Ghost -- with one curse, just over half the time it'll do enough damage to OHKO Alakazam. And if you're really worried about Kazam, throw on a Spell Tag, at which point it'll always OHKO him.
Earthquaking Alakazam, however, will never do enough (unless you get a CH of course), not even with Soft Sand attatched.
EDIT: oops, put in the wrong item.

What's wrong with Hazers? Though I have no use for them or psuedo-hazers as I usually take them out pretty quickly anyways.
Posted by Silver_Persian (Member # 2193) on 07-18-2002, 02:35 AM:
Aerodactyl can whirlwind quite well, resists *all* of curselaxes attacks (barring the freaky thunderers) so put whirlwind over fire blast.
Maybe minty rest on your cursechamp, over body slam.
Get a heal beller (even if you hate them)

I'd hate to agree with js (I mean...REALLY), but just because few people use Haze doesn't mean you should jump down people's throats if they happen to recommend it. You said yourself that you were having problems with Cursers and Baton Chains and whatnot, and Haze does a WAY better job of dealing with them then Roar and Whirlwind do. I offered a very effective solution to your problem. Use it or don't use it, that's up to you, but don't be an ass about it.

Is it just me, or is it good to use stuff few others do to great effect?

To answer your question gentlemen, I shall have a couple of mock battles. Note - these actually never occured. As such, there are no logs here.
Battle one: Haze vs. the Passers
Begin battle - Donald vs. Death_From_Above!
Donald sent out Braincells (Alakazam F L100)!
Death_From_Above sent out Hookup (Umbreon F L100)!
Obviously, this guy's BPing - and he leads Umbry. Because it's a crappy type matchup to begin with, and Umbreon is out, let's go to the Hazer. For the sake of example - Dodrio.
Donald withdrew Alakazam!
Donald sent out PeckerWrecker (Dodrio M L100)!
Umbreon used MEAN LOOK!
Dodrio can't escape now!
Crap, Mean Looked. Now I'm screwed, because DFA can either pass to continue a BP chain, or just play for the kill.
Dodrio used RETURN!
Umbreon used BATON PASS!
Death_From_Above withdrew Umbreon!
Death_From_Above sent out Shocker (Raikou L100)!
To quote Q*Bert - "!@#*"
Raikou used THUNDERBOLT!
Dodrio fainted!
"!@#*" again. Now I don't have a Hazer and there's still a BP chain in play.
Donald sent out Brock_Lesnar (Machamp M L100)!
Obviously, with the Hazer out of play, I need to eliminate Umbreon. Hence Champy.
Death_From_Above withdrew Raikou!
Death_From_Above sent out Psyshocker (Alakazam M L100)!
Machamp used CROSS CHOP!
But it missed!
To add insult to impending injury, CC misses. ;_;
Alakazam used PSYCHIC!
Critical hit!
It's super effective!
Machamp fainted!
Oh sweet mother of god.
After I send out a female Kingdra...
Death_From_Above withdrew Alakazam!
Death_From_Above sent out Hookup (Umbreon F L100!)
Kingdra used ATTRACT!
But it failed!
Umbreon used MEAN LOOK!
Dodrio can't escape now!
Kingdra used Surf!
Umbreon used BATON PASS!
...
Death_From_Above withdrew Umbreon!
Death_From_Above sent out Hookup2 (Scizor M L100)!
Kingdra used ICE BEAM!
It's not very effective...
Praying for a freeze didn't work...
Kingdra used SURF!
Scizor used AGILITY!
Scizor's SPEED greatly rose!
Scizor used SWORDS DANCE!
Scizor's ATTACK greatly rose!
Kingdra used Surf!
Fact: Unless you CH a Surf, Scizor can survive two from Kingdra.
Scizor used BATON PASS!
Death_From_Above withdrew Scizor!
Death_From_Above sent out I_Heart_Nick (Marowak M L100!)
Kingdra used Surf!
It's super effective!
Marowak used EARTHQUAKE!
Kingdra fainted!
And so on... in other words, I get 6-0ed.
Battle two: Psuedohaze vs. the Pass.
Begin battle - Donald vs. Death_From_Above!
Donald sent out Braincells (Alakazam F L100)!
Death_From_Above sent out Hookup (Umbreon F L100)!
Same scenario as well. Except this time, I came prepared.
Donald withdrew Alakazam!
Donald sent out RAWR_He_said_rawr (Donphan M L100)!
Umbreon used Mean Look!
Donphan can't escape now!
Oh yes he can...
Umbreon used Baton Pass!
Death_From_Above withdrew Umbreon!
Death_From_Above sent out WaterPWN (Suicune L100)!
Donphan used Roar!
Death_From_Above's Eggbelll (Blissey F L100) was dragged out!
Ah, now I have the initiative.
Death_From_Above withdrew Blissey!
Death_From_Above sent out Hookup (Umbreon F L100)!
Donald withdrew Donphan!
Donald sent out Brock_Lesnar (Machamp M L100)!
Suspecting that he'd try to restart the chain, and seeing Blissey ANYWAY, enter the Champ. Now, Umbreon survives a CC from Machamp with about 100 HP to spare straight up.
Umbreon used Mean Look!
Machamp can't escape now!
Machamp used Cross Chop!
Critical Hit!
It's super effective!
Umbreon fainted!
HAHE ROBBLE ROBBLE 8D
Death_From_Above withdrew Umbreon!
Death_From_Above sent out Hookup2 (Scizor M L100)!
So he continues on without the pass?
Scizor used Agility!
Scizor's SPEED greatly rose!
Machamp used Fire Blast!
It's super effective!
Scizor fainted!
And SCIZOR goes down as well. All because of Roar.
---
In conclusion:
Haze may be good if they're trying to Double Team and pass it on. But a majority of the teams I face start with Mean Look, in order to prevent Hazers from switching in and ruining everything.
Roarers, meanwhile, can take the Look or Spider Web *snicker*, then either Roar away or find out what they're passing and who's receiving. That gives valuable notice as to what their strategy is, and you can use that to counter.
That is all.
