How do you post [url] links that contain the % symbol?

What exactly is the problem, I have tried to experiment with urls that contain a % character and there were no problems, maybe this problem doesn't occur when you preview the post, but that's unlikely.

Well, I tried to link my book recommendation to Froogle, and it kept displaying the tags and URL as plain text, instead of a hyperlink. This was both in the preview and the actual post. It was a long URL, and I don't know if the [URL] tag has a limit, so I tried a link to Amazon. This one worked fine, but then I noticed that it was even longer. I speculated as to why UBB would interpret one as plain text, and parse the tags correctly in the other case. The first thing I tried was deleting the % symbols from the Froogle URL, because the Amazon URL didn't have any. This resulted in a proper hyperlink - but to an incorrect URL.

That was the only change made, so it seemed to be relevant. Granted I was trying to be quick about it, so I didn't confirm the situation with other examples.

Yeah, look, I can reproduce it:

[url= http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=%22Blood+Meridian%22+-pretty&btnG=Froogle+Search&cat=196]Blood Meridian[/url]

Blood Meridian

Hmm. I also notice that somehow a space is getting inserted between the = and the http, despite the fact that I don't see one in the composition window. Maybe it's a Mozilla textarea bug - this has been a problem area for them since day 1. I'll see what happens in IE.

Ok, this from IE. It's not the %, it's the %22 specifically. It seems that UBB is processing it as the ".

[url= http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=%22Blood+Meridian%22+-pretty&btnG=Froogle+Search&cat=196]Blood Meridian[/url]

Blood Meridian

[url= http://test.com/%22]http://test.com/%22[/url]

http://test.com/%2

http://test.com/%20

[url= http://test.com/%222]http://test.com/%222[/url]

[url= http://test.com/"]http://test.com/"[/url]

Well apparently it doesn't happen because of '%' but because of "%22", I tried changing it to "%20" and it worked.

Edit: oh, nevermind. :---( !
