I don't know if this is Research Lab-worthy, but today in my game I noticed those TV people have stopped moving around. I used to have to follow them to the spot above Mauville, then east of Mauville, then east of Fortree. Today they seem very comfortable in the spot north of Mauville. I've fought them a lot (probably maxed my money about 3.5 times), but I was wondering what it is that makes them stop, and if they will start again, and if they will continue moving after that or settle in a different spot. Just curious. Game time was about 377:00 when I noticed.

Could be times when you avoid interviews?? Or record swapping?? hmmm. Maybe it did have to do with you battling them so many times.

Hm. I've given interviews about the first 8 times I fought them. Never since. And I've never swapped records, but a week earlier I got my Eon Ticket from Nintendo. I doubt that was it, but if it is a factor I'll tell you that it was a full week and about 4 hours.

You finally got the Eon Ticket!! YOu had been waiting for this for a long time [Smile] Now you get to have allot of fun with Latios [Smile]

I have Ruby. I can't catch either of those bastards. Against Latias, I Covet the Soul Dew, swith in a Vigoroth for a Yawn, and then Bite with a L83 Absol that just happens to take her right into red. I've thrown 70 Ultra Balls in a single fight at the sleeping, nearly dead monster and 10 Timer Balls, several different times. She doesn't want to be caught.
I didn't get Latios yet either, but I have seen him. Bastards.

Try a Timer Ball. (the one that works better the long you've been in battle)

I did. I tried 10. Several times.

I was told to keep the master ball for Latios and Latias. That is what i plan to do anyway. I hate rushing through the game and beating the elite four. Too bad you can't get Latias and Latios before the Elite Four.

So heres a question now that we are at it.

Latios Vs Kyogre, who is better???

Save the Master ball for the one you have to track down. The one on Southern island ain't going anywhere. If I understand how the balls work correctly (see http://user.yagb.de/meowth346/index.php?data=data/balls/ballsRS.php), use ultraballs for the first 20 turns, THEN timer balls.

137, bring along a false-swiper to get HP as far down as possible. I don't think either Latias or Latios can touch a shedinja (aside from struggle), so that would be my swiper of choice. That way you can have time to heal your pokemon and maybe spite away recover. Also, have you considered bring along a "sporer" for quicker results?

Well bug catcher your right to a point. If you teach Blizzard to Latios or Kyogre or Icebeam sheninja is gone right? Ice hurts bug since sheninja is bug/ghost he can't dodge ice. I think water pulse and that deep freeze attack might hurt Sheninja?

Sorry 137 fell off topic.

Thanks to your post I have been constantly fighting the reporters. In my game they keep moving but only three spots. Good cash! too bad their pokemon don't get any higher than level 39.

Hi TIDUSBLITZABESX,

I just meant that the wild Latias/Latios can't touch shedinja, so that it's a good choice for a false-swiper. There's not much use in a false-swiper at all in a trainer/link battle [Wink]

I've read meowth's stuff on it. The Timer Ball starts out at 1, then after every 10 turns it increases by 1. Since Ultra Balls are rated 3, it takes 30 turns before a Timer Ball is better. That's what I was doing; it hasn't worked yet.
False Swipe is a great idea, I just hadn't gotten around to raising a Zangoose yet. I hadn't even thought of Shedinja. I guess I'll get to it, then.
Neither did I think of Spiting Recover. I was looking for a way to Imprison Recover, but 202 doesn't have it.
Thanks, folks.
BTW, no info yet on this side either about the TV people.

Sorry Bug catcher. I wasn't sure but I thought Kyogre might of already had icebeam. Guess not though.

I used Vileplume as one of my catchers for capturing Groundon, and all the REGIs. So what you probably should do is paralyze the guy, weaken him, throw 30 ultra balls out then throw the timer ball I think it has a much better chance of working then. I found that the timer ball can act like a pokeball after weakening a pokemon. I was a little annoyed using a repeat ball on a bagon after I already caught several others, and he kept popping out! So I can feel your ferustration 137.

Hi TIDUSBLITZABESX,

Sorry for my part in the confusion. I was only addressing Lati's when I suggested shedinja. kyogre does know ice beam, so better not use shedinja against kyogre, unless you give it focus band, and keep revive on hand (nice how revive give back all shedinjas HP, eh?). Same applies to whole nincada lineage, sceptile/grovile, seedot lineage, and shroomish lineage. So, that leaves you with pinsir, heracross, mawile and zangoose as good choices for a false-swiper for kyogre and regice. For groudon, zangoose is, I think, the only viable choice (I never thought I'd say it: I miss fearow.)

BTW, what are you using to covet/steal Soul Dew?

A False Swiping Shedinja should work against Kyogre - it's got Normal, Water, and Ice attacks. None of which will hit a Wonder Guard Shedinja.

Of course, I used a Sunnybeam Vileplume with Sleep Powder (shiny, too [Big Grin] ) to catch it, so what do I know...

Umm, last time I checked, Ice is normal effective on Bugs. However, since you fight Kyogre at level 40, it has Ancientpower in its m-set. That is a threat to Bugs. So Heracross (Fighting neutralizes Rock), Mawile and Zangoose are your best bets. Since Mawile is really rare and is only in Ruby, you'll have to use Hera or Zangoose for False Swipe. IMO, they were your best bets anyway given their high Atk power and Kyogre's average Def. Any Special Attacker can handle Groudon. Barring Slaking and Bulk-Up, you'll never get it with just physical attacks.

To steal Lati*s' Soul Dew, Attach Alakazam with Choice Band. Trick it onto the legendary, and it's smooth sailing.

But you fight Kyogre at L45 and it has Body Slam, Calm Mind, Ice Beam, and Hydro Pump.

Donald, ice does effect sheninja. I went up against the final gym leader using him and ice hurt him. Water doesn't though. I heard though that Kyogre doesn''t really use icebeam though. So it might work?

I was wrong. Ultra Balls are rated 2. The most powerful ball is a Timer ball after 30 turns, at 4.

That is too bad that Ultra balls are only rated 2, That means a Great ball is rated a 1 and Pokeballs are rated 0s? Making pokeballs kinda worthless in a way.

I stand corrected. Ice shouldn't affect shedinjas. One too many fights with a bug/flying type, I guess.

As to pokeballs, it's:

pokeballs: 1
great balls (of fire [Big Grin] )/ Safari balls: 1.5
ultra balls: 2

Timer balls:
Initially: 1 (like a pokeball)
After 10: 2 (as good as an ultra ball, but ultra balls are free)
After 20: 3 (better than an ultra ball)

I'm assuming the timer ball calculation is integer. In that case, timer balls are better than ultra balls after 20 turns. Otherwise, they're better than ultra balls after 11. Any of you ROM researchers know which it is?

Dark Heracross, thanks for the trick idea!

Personal plug: If you find my posts usefull, or just want to reward my impecable manners [Smile] , be sure to rate me. I don't think I'm 5 ghost material [Embarrassed] , but I hope for better than 1 [PBJ Time!] !

Sorry Bug Catcher Ice does normal damage to bug type. I think that is what I was using a Flying Bug type. I forgot that I gave up on Sheninja after he kept getting Poison gassed by Swalots. My appoligies.

Maybe it's the constant stream of Hail that Ice-types like to throw at Shedinja in this game.

Yeah i confirmed it was Dustox I used and not sheninja. For it's silverwind. IF Sheninja has high speed then it is all set. Might as well try a hasty nature, Jolly, or something like that. Either that or an attack personality. What would you guys go with an attack personality or a speed personality for sheninja?

But its cooler when you have a legendery in one! I have Regirock and Registeel in Premier Balls, and a Kyorge in a Pokeball [Big Grin]

Too bad there were no cheats to duplicate master balls like the old days LOL.

Ok I tried two amulet coins one from Saphire I sent over to Ruby and one I already had in Ruby. It doesn't make a difference in a two on two battle if you have two amulet coins. I tried it and only waisted more time doing so [Frown] I tested it on Gabby and TY. Too bad there level doesn't go beyond Lv. 39.

It must be nearly impossible to catch Regirock, steel, and Ice with a pokeball! I was lucky enough to catch a Groundon with a Greatball but that was only after I threw out a pile of other balls.

Anyone know the value of Nest, Net, Dive, and Repeat balls????

Bringing this topic back from the dead, but today the Interviewers stopped moving for me, too (Playtime is at 131:15). I haven't done anything but battle them a whole load of times, so that must be that reason why they stop.
