Before I begin, I want to say this. I got this info off of Meowth346's website.

His website is http://www.geocities.com/meowth346/forever.htm and I found this information at http://pub2.ezboard.com/fpokeforgoldsilver.showMessage?topicID=1854.topic

I pretty much just took what he posted there and compiled it into a list that is more simplistic with some explanations. I repeat Meowth346 did the research, he is the genius, I just cleaned it up.

(Forgive all the above ramblings, but I am doing it so no one says OH you stole MEOWTHs WORK) [He is the genius who did all the work, not me...]

Now for my guide.... finally...

So, you want to understand Mystery Gift? Well, it appears to be work like this. Most
items that can be sent to your pack you can receive over and over again. I’m unsure if
multiple scope lens are possible, anyway... All of the following items are the most
common gifts you will receive when mystery gifting. Each time you mystery gift there is a 90.2% chance of getting one of the following items.

Berry
Przcureberry
Mint Berry
Ice Berry
Burnt Berry
Psncureberry
Guard Spec.
X Defense
X Attack
Bitter Berry
Dire Hit
X Special
X Accuracy
Eon Mail
Morph Mail
Music Mail
Clefairy Poster
Jigglypuff Poster
Super NES
Jigglypuff Doll
Staryu Doll
Poliwag Doll
Diglett Doll
Magikarp Doll
Oddish Doll
Gengar Doll
Shellder Doll
Grimer Doll
Voltorb Doll
Weedle Doll
Geodude Doll
Machop Doll

======================

Realize that when you receive a doll/decoration from a mystery gift, you will never get that doll again on the same catridge. In other words, one per customer. So, once you have received all the following gifts...

Clefairy Poster
Jigglypuff Poster
Super NES
Jigglypuff Doll
Staryu Doll
Poliwag Doll
Diglett Doll
Magikarp Doll
Oddish Doll
Gengar Doll
Shellder Doll
Grimer Doll
Voltorb Doll
Weedle Doll
Geodude Doll
Machop Doll

You will not be able to get them again and that only leaves the wussy items for the 90.2%. So that is why you get the following so many times when you mystery gift.

Berry
Przcureberry
Mint Berry
Ice Berry
Burnt Berry
Psncureberry
Guard Spec.
X Defense
X Attack
Bitter Berry
Dire Hit
X Special
X Accuracy
Eon Mail
Morph Mail
Music Mail

Once you have all the one per customer doll, poster, and game console decorations, each
time you mystery gift, there is a 90.2% chance that the item you get will come from the above list.
==========
So, why bother mystery gifting if all you’ll get is a lame Berry or X Special? Despire the horrible odds of almost always getting one of them, it is still possible to get better items, they are just very rare and may possibly never happen even if you mystery gift every day for a year.
=============
Each time you mystery gift you have a 7.9% chance of getting one of the following items. Realize that dolls, decorations, beds, gaming consoles, etc... can only be received once and if the game chooses to give you one of those you already have, it chooses an item for your pack from the same category.

Miracle Berry
Gold Berry
Revive
Great Ball
Super Repel
Max Repel
Elixer
Ether
Magna Plant
Tropic Plant
Pink Bed
Polkadot Bed
NES
Nintendo64
Bulbasaur Doll
Squirtle Doll

===========
Same story for the following, but only at a 1.5% chance...

Water Stone
Fire Stone
Leaf Stone
Thunderstone
Max Ether
Max Elixer
Max Revive
Scope Lens
Red Carpet
Blue Carpet
Yellow Carpet
Green Carpet
Jumbo Plant
Pikachu Poster
Virtual Boy
Big Onix
=================

Again, same story except only a 0.4% chance which is very pathetic.

HP Up
PP Up
Surf Pikachu Doll
Big Lapras

(so if you’re playing and a dude sends you a HP UP or a PP UP and you don’t have the
Surf Pikachu Doll and the Big Lapras... you just came VERY VERY close to getting one,
but didn’t.

=========
The following items can be obtained only by mystery gifting through Pokemon Stadium 2.
The exact odds of getting them is unknown, but at best they are 0.4%. But they could be
worse than that!

Pikachu Bed
Tentacool Doll
Unown Doll

If the game tries to give you one of these and you already have it, the game will give you a pack item, but which one(s) is unknown.
========

All the research? He actually translated it from a Japanese page here:

I had worked on a translation of it too before I knew he had.

Ahem, I did *not* steal that from a Japnese website. I compiled the date from the English Gold and English Pokémon Staiudm 2 ROM images. Should I tell you the ROM locations of all of the data? Even Yay Porygon should know a bit about my work, as I told her how many times the data is stored in Stadium.

Also, that Japanese website fails to mention the Unown Doll. Apparently he doesn't have the resources that I have to work with.

But, I didn't steal it. Check out all informaiton before you accuse.

Again, if you want me to give some ROM locations, just say so. I suppose that I stole all of Carrie's teams from that site, too, after all I compiled those the exact same time that I did the Mystery Gift lists.

Don't mind poccil, he only knows how to steal.

Interesting to see how rare my Big Lapras is, but also disappointing to see that I can't really get anything I care about.

Oh well.

I have had S2 for only three months, and already I have a Bulbasaur doll and a yellow carpet. That "stadium 2 slut", as cfalcon calls her, has got a Scope Lens from me before, and ask "I got a Scope Lens before. Are You jealous?" Yes I am . But I can take some comfort in the fact that I got a big Lapras the very first time I mystery gifted.

Well, Meowth346 has done it again. I have wanted this information for MONTHS. I suspected some of this, but finally, it's all pretty much confirmed.

Thank you thank you thank you Meowth346.

I can contribute just a little--I'm almost certain you can get multiple Scope Lenses. I've gotten four...On the other hand, I have four carts...And I can't remember which carts got the Scope Lenses. But still, I'm almost positive you can get multiple Scope Lenses, just like any other items.

Thom Burr, did you have a Scope Lens in your Pack when you got another one? Because, reverse engineering the ROM looks like it's basically saying, "If item is in Pack, re-pick Mystery Gift item."

Ah-ha! Nope, I never carry any of them in my pack. They stay in the metal item case in Stadium 2. That might go some ways to explain everything...

MK, as far as I can tell, if you have the item in your Pack, it repoints to another items in that % Pack section. But, I've got other people saying that I have that wrong, so that means having to re-hack out the informaiton for me and having to watch it step by step--gotta' borrow my brother's N64 Gameshark for that part.

Ok, good luck Meowth, anyway, this is my hypothesis.

Maybe it doesn't do that for "all" items. Maybe it's just for the really good ones, like scope lens. But maybe you'll get berry after berry whether you have it in your pack or not. (just a theory)

Yessss...Actually on TPM (not that I'm making any comparison) they have more or less permanent threads where they repeatedly curse Carrie with the latest 12-year-old invectives--many of them take it very personally (but luckily, they haven't learmed the word "whore" yet, which is sad, considering how she repeatedly admits she likes to BEEP with people just to get gifts)...Anyway, she's there every night around 1 AM (when I get off work and do my MGs). Yes, you can get more than one Scope Lens. I have three on my Silver cart. On the other hand, I get nothing but Common pack items anymore (especially Music Mail, I have 18 Music Mails but I've never gotten another Mail), and no room items. I'd gladly trade in my three Lenses for a Miracleberry or two, since I have never gotten one, but they seem to be in high demand for movesets.

A friend of mine got a Surf Pikachu Doll, and I got a Burnt Berry.

Flareon, where do you keep your extra scope lenses? Do you keep them in your Pack, your PC, or your Stadium GS items box. If you don't know that's ok. There is a just a theory that if you have one of these items already in your "pack" you won't get another through mystery gift. But, if you had 1 or more already in your pack and got another that could help debunk that theory.

People like Scope Lens because when you make a Pokémon hold it, it raises the chance of them getting a critical hit by like 12.5% or something.

And mine just won't shut up about the damn tentacool doll. If i ever get one, i am gonna shove it down her throat and ask her "so is the rumor true? can u receive a tentacool doll down the throat?

On a more serious note. This may be a stupid question, but, if the person u r mystery gifting with has say a Surf Pika doll, does that affect ur odds of receiving it from them?

It could activate some factor, but so could lots of things. I've had a theory that Trainer # and/or ID # effect the gifts. I don't know if things can effect a mystery gift, but, they might.

I've asked other colleagues about what conditions or situations they thought might affect the MG, and the general concensus is that (except for the possible Scope-Lens-in-pack issue, and the one-time-only Decoration clause) it is almost surely totally random, period.

That said, I am very suspicious about the Stadium 2-only MGs. I still haven't read of anyone getting one. I have read one account of *Carrie* getting a Tentacruel that sounded reliable, but that's it.

Super Repel
Max Repel
Elixer
Ether

And these items in my room:

Magna Plant
Tropic Plant
Pink Bed
Polkadot Bed
NES

Bulbasaur Doll
Squirtle Doll

And MG decides to give me a gift from this category. Seeing as I have all of these, what does it give me?

O.K., I got a Pokemon pikachu GS($12) and this is what I have found out so far...
You can MG with this pikachu as many times as you want, apparently...
I spent 8 watts on the first MG and it turned out to be Eon Mail.
The other 6 times I MG I spent only 1 watt and I just got Eon Mails.
I just got it, so, I don't have a whole lot of watts.
I don't even know if the status of my pikachu matters, the friendship status is at Playmates.
Just the fact that you can MG as many times as you want it's great, now let's hope that it can give us battle worhy items like Miracle Berries, PP Ups, etc...
I'll keep updates on this thread as I keep on breaking ground...
I'll keep playing

600 for a MB is not bad at all, specialy if you're good at the card game you play with the pika. I can get 600 watts in no time and I can MG with it as many times as I want!
Not bad for $12.00.
Also, the charmander I got from the Gym Leader Castle had the Normal Box, it contained a Silver Trophy wich I proudly display in my room. I wonder how can I get the Golden Trophy?

I think you get the Gold Trophy from transfering to Gold/Silver the Amnesia Psyduck you get from Stadium RBY by filling up the hall of fame with all 151. The Psyduck should be holding a thing called a "Gorgeous Box." I think that gives you Gold Trophy.

MK is correct. However, you don't need to trade your Chromatic Pokemon to Metallics to get their attached items; just plug your RBY game into Stadium 2, go to Oak's lab, and transfer them to your PC.

Any Pokemon that you won from Round Two Stadium 1 will have attached "Gorgeous Box" that you can use to decorate your room with a Gold Trophy.

Maybe we should just all put the things we don't want in our packs, and then mystery gift with Prostitute Carrie. Who knows, maybe I'll get more Miracleberries instead of the 5 billion PRZcureberries...just something to think about =D

Are their any other items that you can receive through a "not-so-ordinary" way like with the Trophies? Like things you can display in your room or something and can get other than mystery gifting?

The only things you get for your room besides mystery gifting that I can think of are the two trophies (Gold & Silver Trophy) a Bronze one does NOT exist, and the dolls your mom will buy you throughout the game if she saves some of your money for you.

Below is a list of the items mommie can buy for you...

3000 bucks for a Moon Stone? I didn't think they were that expensive...

Both my Gold and Silver games have Surfing Pikachu dolls. HURRAY. I wish I could use my Charmander doll to light them on fire.

Why are Miracleberries as rare as Gold Berries, Revives and Ethers when I've gotten *SIX* Gold Berries and God knows how many Revives and Ethers from her?! *is angry*

...And am I the only one who thinks Carrie is a sweetie? Sure, she's a nazi with the gifts, but that isn't her fault...

*bump*

This topic goes back to the top, since I did some research today which perhaps can help answer some of the questions here.

I stuffed my Pack full with all the 90% items, then all the 7,4% items that were left (and which I could stuff into my Pack, excluding Dolls and such). I then went to MG with Carrie.

If the things we have assumed here are correct, that you only recieve an item not in your pack, then I would recieve a rare doll, or an Eon Mail or Ether since I didn't have an Eon mail in my Pack.

Beep...

Carrie sent Dire Hit! WTF! I checked the list, and I had forgotten to add a Dire Hit in my Pack...

I'll Gift with her again tomorrow... If I recieve another Dire Hit then, we can be pretty sure that S2 first decides upon a category, then checks all the items in that category to see if they are in the pack, then chooses the one item currently not in pack.

I wonder, however, if my odds of getting a rare thing would increase if I stuff my pack with *all* the common items, then Gift with her... That would probably force S2 to choose items from a different category!

We may have something here!

Finally, a question to Meowth346, about the Unown doll. How rare is it? Is it a small doll, or a big one?

Hey Lark, thanks for researchin this

The Unown Doll is a regular sized doll that fits on the table in the middle of the room. Just like the Tentacool doll and Pikachu Bed, you can only get it by mystery gifting the stadium whore(tm). Anyway, the odds of getting it are very rare. I think that at the very best, it's like 1 in 255 shot. It could be worse than that...

To recapitulate, the exact odds of getting Unown Doll, Pikachu Bed, and Tentacool Doll is unknown, but at best they are 0.4% each time you mystery gift. But they could be
worse than that!

Bad news (and good news too)...

I crammed my pack full with alll the 90% items (this time I didn't forget Dire Hit), then changed the day using the time resetting password.

I then MG:ed with the Stadium Slut (as she appearantly is called on the Internet :P), and got... Dire Hit again! WTF!!!11!!1 I checked my Pack after I recieved the gift, and yes, I now had 2 Dire Hits instead of 1... I changed the day a few more times, and I always got items I already had (X Defend, Ice Berry, X Attack, then I got pissed and turned the N64 off ).

So I can now say (pretty sure) that for 90% common pack items, it doesn't matter if they're in your pack or not. I didn't get Eon Mail either, which was what I thought I was going to get...

So that's the bad news...

The good news, OTOH, is that Stadium doesn't "know" if you've changed your time or not. I changed from Friday to Saturday, then Sunday, then back to Friday, thinking "It'll not work now", but it did work! So a not-so-noble trainer can change the time settings as many times as he wish, to get 10's or 100's of gifts in a day (I think, I only tried this four times, plus the gift I took earlier, which makes five times total). At least you don't have to wait a whole day until you can MG again...

ME GOTS AN IDEA!

It's like Lark's, but a little more advanced. You only had 1 of Berry, PRZCureberry and the like in your pack, right?

But what if your pack was FULL of those? I mean, 99 Berries, 99 PRZCureberries and so forth?

It could work. I'll test it after I watch Pokémon, Tilt! and Digimon.

Which means about an hour.

Hmmm... It could work...

But I think it doesn't matter, since the item is not sent to your pack directly, it's sent to the Lab, from where you go to pick it up. If your pack is full, then you simply can not choose to save the item there. But who knows, I've never tried it.

I have an idea too.

Let's say "this" is how Mystery Gifting works.

(beep)
Random Number is generated to see which class of items you receive (common/uncommon/rare/super rare)

Let's say you get Common. The Computer Scans your pack to see if there is an item from common YOU DONT already have. Like, if you always wanted Dire Hits, have all the common items EXCEPT Dire Hit. Then each time you get a common item from her, it will be dire hit. Of course, once you get the new dire hit you'll have to stick it in your PC and not your pak.

My other idea is that the having all the common items in your pak only works well if you dont have all the common dolls.

(beep)
Hmmm, has all common items, let's give common doll.
Common doll sent.

But, if you have ALL the common items in your pak and already have all the common dolls, my guess is that it just picks a common item anyway.

I remember someone had an idea that the time you have played the game affects your gifts...

I have suspected that too, since sometimes when my brother had played a lot and I had played nothing, he got berries and I got the good stuff

Yesterday I went to one of my basement-held unofficial tourneys and MG:d with a couple of kids.

I got Eon Mail, and Diglett Doll.

Wait a minute... No, this has nothing to do with playtime! When I MG:d, I had all the common items in my pack, except for Eon Mail (Which I receieved!), and I didn't have the Diglett Doll either.

So, maybe it works the oppposite way: The GB doesn't give you thing you have in your pack, but S2 does!

Or, maybe I was just lucky... But the fact that I got Berries from S2 that day (once at home, once at the tourney), then the two uncommon items I lacked when MG:ing with trainers makes this a little more interesting.

Ok!

So, I'm ready for the tests. Currently I have in my bag in Silver:

99 Berries
99 PRZCureberries
99 Mint berries
99 Ice berries
99 Burnt berries
99 PSNCureberries
99 Bitter berries

99 X Defenses
99 X Attacks
99 X Speeds (Meowth346 didn't have these listed as common items, but I included them still)
99 X Specials
99 X Accuracies

99 Dire Hits
99 Guard Spec.s

99 Eon mails
99 Morph mails
99 Music mails

All the common items + X Speeds.

/me switches both GameBoy Colors on
/me chooses Mystery Gift
Oh, by the way, my Silver character is called NIIDLE and Gold character is called NOODLE.

*GIFT*

And...

NOODLE sent X Defend.
NIIDLE sent X Accuracy.

Bah, now I understand. It goes to the policeman in the Pokémon Center, NOT straight to your inventory >

Well... we still have the ability to change the time and MG with the Stadium Slut as many times as we want...

At least it's something.
