Is there some way to be assured the victory in the High/Low game or increase your chances of winning. (Is there some kind of pattern or card correspondence?)

The only pattern I've seen is that the hidden card that Pikachu later shows is inevitably the face card in the next round. This can give you a very good idea of your odds in the next round BEFORE you actually commit to it.

Example:

Pikachu shows 2A. Up. Card: 10S. Win.

Pikachu shows 10S. Down. Card: 5D. Win.

Pikachu shows 5D. Up. Card:7H. Win.

At this point, were I at 55W or higher, I'd go ahead and hold. When you hit 7's, your odds are only slightly better than even (i.e., flipping a coin). If I were at 200W or more, I'd be even more conservative.

"Yew gots t'know whens t'hold 'em
Know whens t'fold 'em
Know whens t'walk away
'N know when to run
Yew never counts yer wattage
When yer playin' aginst Pi-ka-chu
They'll be time enuff t'count it
When the game is done."
