Yep, as I stated earlier, I contracted PokeRus. However, I have discovered a great many interesting things about it. I will summarize, in POWER POINT (tm) form!!!

1)Pokerus lasts for approximately 24 hours of out of box activity.

2)Pokerus spreads only while battling. After about 2 battles, it will spread to the adjacent pokemon in your roster.

3)Pokerus is not effected by steps, only actual time. It can wear off even if you haven't played.

4)Unsure about this yet, but pokemon who are boxed seem to have their status "locked"- it does not spread, but it does not go away. However, I have only had pokeRus-infected pokemon boxed for two days, so I'll keep you updated.

5)Pokerus has no effect on breeding if the father is effected. I will soon infect a mother and try that.

6)Pokerus increases gained stat experience by an unknown amount. I'll be heading to the unknown cave to check on this.

7)After a pokemon is infected and fights it off, his status screen will be marked by a dot just above the far righthand side of his hp bar. He is thereafter immune to the virus.

That is all, for the time being. Like I said before, if anyone has any questions or testings they want to attempt, I'm up for it. Just ask.

Uh.....there IS no Unknown Cave in G/S. Do you mean Silver Cave?

Doesn't Pokerus double the amount of stat exp gained?

I'm not sure of the exact value, yet. That's why I'm going to the ruins of Alph.
I'll test pokemon with Pokerus, and duplicated versions of them without it, and compare stat advancement while only fighting unowns.

Good idea. I know nothing about Unown's base stat distribution, but fighting the same species over and over should work. You'll want to go in when the "infected" and "non-infected" Pokemon had just leveled up, and been boxed.

Here's an interesting question, Brayze. Since infected Pokčmon are noted by the "Pokčrus" title as the status, would the Pokčrus be vanquished if, say, it were made to be paralyzed or some other stat changer? Just something else you may want to try in your research.

D'oh!

Pardon me, not a stat changer -- a status changer...I'm either getting lazy or stupid...or both. Bleh.

Hmmm, this may just be luck, but I've been fighting drowzee, and as of yet they have been unable to put me to sleep....

If Pokerus prevents status ailements, then that is game-unbalancing. I'll go check some more. *runs*

Being Knocked Out, Put asleep, confused etc doesn't affect the PokéRus status. I believe it also lasts for about a week

It lasts for 24 hours at most out of the box. I have it. Have you had it? No? Then you wouldn't know.

Actually, I did have it. My Flareon caught it and had it for about 5 days before it became immune to it. By that time it infected over 7 of the Pokémon I keep in active rotation.

Have you checked if boxed pokémon gets rid of their pokérus while boxed?

If they do, then, if I ever the Pokérus, don't expect me to get any sleep... I'll be up catching like crazy

Meowth's information is wrong, or at least misleading. I've read it, and it also implies that Pokerus spreads through boxed pokemon.
No, no.

Pokerus lasts for about 24 hours of out of box activity, and it seems to last forever, in a static state, with boxed pokemon. It only spreads if you actually fight (you can't just ride around on a bike and expect it to spread to other pokemon). It doesn't spread in the box.

The reason that your pokemon seemed to have it for about 5 days was probably because they were being rotated, and experienced about 24 hours of out-of-box time across those 5 days.

Trust me on this, I've done several trials.

Yeup. YOur right. I've always kept pokérus in some boxed pokémon so that I could give it to a pokémon when I needed to.

Meowth's found that Pokérus also occurs in babies if one of their parents has it. They'll hatch with it. Whee. So make some eggs, then store them for later usage. Just hatch them, more Pokérus! ^_^

Not with the father. Only the mother, I guess. I hatched a koffing whose father had it, and no pokerus. Haven't tried a female yet, it's been a busy season.

Maybe both have to have it.

When breeding PokeRus down, remember that the mother passes things down to the male baby and the father passes things down to the female baby, including PokeRus.

Godd point, Meowth.

PS, maybe you should revise your page on the Pokerus, I'd be happy to give you an exact duration for it. Just gimme a day or so after you reply.

And also it doesn't spread in boxes, and it doesn't automatically spread to all pokemon when you put them in the pokecenter.

..Only spreads if you fight, to adjacent pokemon...hmmm, a stay at the pokecenter may count as a fight...

Will test.

Etc, etc. That's pretty much all I've found, but feel free to put it up if you want.

Good hunting!

Brayze; What Meowth346 basically did was elaborate your assumption that you need both parents to be infected with the Pokerus to have a 100% chance of infecting the baby. Kinda like having a baby with Herpes Simplex 1, only without the cold-sores.

What I still want to know is: Can you be asleep, paralyzed, etc. while infected with the Pokerus? If the Pokerus protects condition, there could be some very confused newbies in my future. So before any battle, inorganically (gameshark) or organically infect your PKMN team and you may be invinsible!

Well, I've done a little research and the answer is - no. You can still freeze, sleep, burn, die, etc. while carrying a Pokčrus. It just appears that the game's creators had no better place to let you know that your Pokčmon have been infected than the @#$*! status line (yes, my hopes were falsely raised a bit).

Which is good...

BTW, if you have used a Gameshark to shark your status (Burn, Freeze, etc) or shark the PokéRUS, you notice that they the same byte of memory. That was my suspicion that you could have PokéRUS and a status condition at the same time, although your Pokémon stat screen should say the status condition rather than the PokéRUS condition.

Are we 100% sure on the time it takes for Pokérus to wear off? My Heracross caught it, and after infecting my entire team, he had it for over three days at least...

PokeRus lasts for roughly 24 hours out of the box. You probably boxed ur Heracross sometime during those three days.
The 24 hour thing's happened to me too. I sharked PokeRus onto one of mine one night, came back the next night, and it was gone.
