"Can sometimes spook the opponent"

Does this move flinch? Or am I quoting the game wrong?

I've also read that aurora beam has a chance of freezing. And that lick always does 1/8 of max hitpoints damage.

I am fairly sure Rock Slide is not a flincher. I've never seen it happen and never seen it reported as such.

Aurora Beam definitely never freezes. (We found that attacks never have two side-effects in that way.)

Lick is as we reported, just a regular low power Ghost attack.

For what it's worth, just about every guide says Hi Jump Kick causes 1/8 of the damage caused to your Pokemon if you miss, but it only ever does 1HP.

Haha, I wondered about that Hi Jump Kick as well. =D Hrm, I'm gonna go review the stats of the fighting moves. Even in Red/Blue Fighting pokemon is not as bad as everyone thinks.

Rock Slide flinches in Gold/Silver, I think. Dunno about Aurora Beam.

Hrm, on Azure Heights page it says Hi Jump Kick only does 1 damage if it misses, but plain Jump Kick does 1/8 damage if it misses. Are these both right?

Posted by Mr. K (Member # 2) on 05-04-2000, 05:49 PM:

Yeah, they're both right.

There's a Fighting Comparison page in the works, too, so we did some testing when we started it.

Of course, I've taken on about 3 more projects since then, continuing on my plan of Complete Randomness.

Well, when there's so much to do, it hardly matters which you do first...

With all the non-updated Pokemon pages you say that it does.

I've also heard that Low Kick, has a Random Paralyze effecy in addition to the fact it also has the ability to cause a flinch.

Is that true?

Maybe someone's reading too quickly and they confused "Low Kick" with "Lick"?

Hey... doesn't Low Kick have a high CH rate? If so wouldn't that clash w/ flinching??
Mr. K - Earlier you said Lick is just a regular low power ghost attack - I think THAT's were Hitmonrich got that Lick doesn't paralyze... It's jsut a coincidence we started talking about Low Kick... or a conspiracy

I don't think so. Maybe you're thinking of Karate Chop?

OH! I see. OK, I meant it was a regular low power attack with regards to damage (because someone mentioned that 1/8 thing).

Think of it as a less than 25% power Body Slam.

So what is the conclusion we've come to? I still really like rock slide, it's great against all birds. Best against zapdos, especially on a rhydon. But what exactly are you arguing anymore?

I've been working on a Pokemon database of data I've compiled from the Versus guide to RBY. After a while of collecting stuff on moves, I've noticed that each move fits into a specific category. No move may have two attributes. For example, Fire spin may only be a multiturn move that works like wrap, and it has no chance of burning. Aurora Beam lowers attack 30%, nothing else may come of it, no freezing. Maybe this changed in GS if moves can have sevearl attributes instead of just one. Each move has its own category and can be grouped, with the exception of special moves that need to be coded for separately, such as Disable, Light Screen, Dream Eater, etc....

aurora beam cant freeze, rock slide scares or can scare wild pokemon away during the game if u dont kill them in one hit, and lick...well i dont know, it is just has the highest chance of paralysis aout of any move in the game....out of any move in the game...

------------------
pokemon is just pokemon.
im sick of newbies who's lives revolve around it, but don't have a clue about it.

Yeah right! Since when did any wild Pokemon NOT get killed in one hit with Rock Slide? Oh,I guess you are using it on non-birds! :P

Rock Slide has a 30% flinch ratio in G/S, as stated. Lick paralyzes, Low Kick flinches, Karate Chop has a high CH ratio, and Aurora Beam lowers the enemy's Attack. That's all. No, you can't scare wild Pokèmon. Surely Nintendo will never do something that let the pokèmon flee kicked by YOU.

Indeed, much to my annoyance, Tri Attack does do all three. Feckin' Dodrios... I was training a Machamp at Mt. Silver, and Dodrios did all three to my Machamp.

Thunder only has a 1 in 10 chance of Paralysis, and Body Slam has a 1 in 3. T-Wave and Zap Cannon have a 1 in 1 chance. So, in conclusion...

1. T-Wave, Glare, Stun Spore, Zap Cannon-100%
2. Dragonbreath, Lick, Body Slam-33.3333...%
3. Thunder, Thunderbolt, Thundershock-10%

I have to be a ham. Not sure about Tri-Attack, anybody know the chance of Freeze, Burn and Paralysis rate for Tri-Attack?

I was under the impression that Thunder paralyzed 30% of the time. Can anyone confirm that its 10%?
