I'm surprised they didn't count Donphan as being good for Rapid Spinning. <_<

Where do people get these lists of 'standard' movesets, I mean, how do they know a set is 'The Standard'? Does someone just claim they are, or what?

LOL "standard"

Basically what happens is that someone finds a moveset, people think it's really good and start using it themselves. Soon that moveset starts appearing everywhere within the metagame. Once a moveset becomes popular with alot of people, it becomes the "standard" moveset, or one of a few "standard" movesets as is the case with Snorlax (Curselax, Belly Drum Snorlax, Fishlax, etc.) or Starmie (Death Star, anything else). I would consider a moveset "standard" once people start developing counters to said "standards".

P.S. <------tl;dr

What I find frustrating is that when I try to post movesets on other forums, all I *get* are people telling me to use standards. They don't tell me *why* my current set can't/won't be effective, just that *the standard is better*. <_<

But I have a *logic* behind why I choose moves, and I'd like to have people explain to me exactly why I was wrong. Insead I get people knee-jerking me to use a standard for a poke, even if I *obviously* am not using a poke for that purpose.

Like my Torkoal. He has Sunny Day so when he switches, Flygon gets SolarBeam and Flamethrower boosted. I think its a cool idea. But all the team raters other than here just repeat, repeat repeat mechanically that I should use him as a tank, and always take SD off his movelist, even if I explain why its there, giving him Iron Defense and Amnesia instead. But I'm not *trying* to use him as a tank! @_@

I mean, maybe he could make a good one, but am I wrong because I'm not using him that way? Will he be more prone to losing because he's not acting as a tank? I want these things explained, and they don't try at all. >_>

That's why I like AH, people here tend to have actually thought it through and know how the game works. For someone like me who doesn't know a lot about R/S mechanics yet, its very helpful.

meh ... nobody knows a lot about RuSa yet. we're all still learning the fine balance between m-sets, EV's, stats, personalities. and that's only for 1v1 battling [Eek!]

these are prolly not standards, but since ppl are too lazy to find better ones, these are the ones that have survived judgement
