So after not watching TV for about 10 years I decided to get one for my new Condo. There was a perfect wall to mount one on and a good home-theater space ideal for surround sound.

Guys are going to mount my tv on my wall and hide the wires and setup the speakers and everything after I get back from my vacation in about two weeks; until then I have my tv standing on my floor connected just to my comcast HD receiver.

I figured that in order to really jump into the tv thing I needed to at least splurge for a couple months on the super premium package with all the HBO, Cinemax, Starz etc etc ad nauseum channels.

I am absolutely fascinated by the entire thing.

I got have a 60 inch plasma TV (Vizio brand - cheap $2500 at costo) and I am absolutely addicted to High Definition *Anything*.

I watched Rodeo on TV for 15 minutes and loved it. In HD you can see all the blood, sweat and scars and scabs on the bulls. I really want to see it again.

I watched the local news in High Definition and loved seeing all the acne scars and blemishes on the news chick.

I watched Harry Potter in HD and was completely amazed. at all the shit I didn't notice in the Theater (but I didn't have LASIK then) - just the level of detail and visual quality

I watched baseball in HD and it's amazing because the shot behind the pitchers mound, when he pitches the ball at the plate, you get a weird sort of perspective on the ball - like an extra sort of depth perception on it. When I watch the ball go from the picther to the plate it kinda makes my stomach feel weird like when you are on an amusment ride or watching an IMAX film from a race car perspective.

I am excited at the prospect of HD porn - I'm sure it will be absolutely gross. (razor burns, wart-removal scars, mole-like lumps, etc).

I think I am most fascinated and surprised that the television still pretty much sucks, but now the entertainment in watching it is very different.

Yesterday I drove to the comcast headquarters and returned my standard HDTV receiver for an HDTV receiver with a Tivo-type thing built in. I spent all of last night adding personal customizations and scheduling to continuously record Voltron, The Price is Right and Take Home Chef. I also figured out I can record all the late night porn movies that play on Cinemax and Showtime.

it sucks because all I plan on watching is HD channels - but they are all spread out over multiple subscription packs so in order to get them you need to buy everything [Frown] It would be nicer if you could just get an "All HD pack" from comcast.

also - On Demand when you have all of the premium channels is pretty ridiculous. There is really no point to the regular movie channels when you can just watch all the movies they show via on demand whenever you want. They have lots of HD ones also.

edit: Can we change my forum flavor text from loves long time to "Sentient Cancer" prz?

I ended up picking 130607 I carried it to my car myself and up two flights of stairs once I got home. The kegerator I got off craigslist for $90 had to have the inside door carved out a bit to fit it in.

Tonight I am packing for my rafting trip through the grand canyon. I will be gone about 9 days. I am taking my trusty hispanic GI Joe action figure, Tunnel Rat along with me. He has accompanied me to South America and New Zealand and carriers two hand guns to keep the inguns away. I will update my blog on my return.

edit: if I survive

So The trip was a success!

The hardest part was the hike from the base of the canyon all the way up the Bright Angel Trail on the upper rim of the Grand Canyon on the last day. It was 7 miles with 4,500 vertical elevation and at the mid point a thermometer at the ranger station read 90 degrees. I had to carry everything out in my backpack that I had brought in, but I packed lightly so my pack was I bet about 12 lbs.

I ended up switching packs with my dad his was like 25 lbs at least.

A highlight of the hike came at a rest station 3 miles from the end where I stopped to eat a sandwich, drink water and eat some peanut m&ms for quick energy. I was talking to my Australian flutist friend and a squirrel (basically tamed by all of the people traffic coming and going) came and stood expectant underneath my bag of m&ms. I kept talking to my friend and then all of a sudden when the squirrel realized I wasn't giving him any of my m&ms he attempt to wrench it from my hands with his teeth - violently trying to pull it from my grasp. I picked up the squirrel and threw him against a rock. I tried to do the same to his friend that was just behind him but he scurried away too quickly. We were actually on the edge of a pretty dramatic cliff and had I the opportunity I would have hurled him as hard as I could off of it. animals that don't respect the food-chain caste system need to be reprogrammed or destroyed imo.

I saw a lot of lizards and some cool looking toads and frogs while I was rafting through the river. Unfortunately I didn't research before hand the proper ones that when licked give off a substance similiar to LSD (apparently).

Tunnel rat had quite an adventure - he rested within my life jacked, nested under a strap so that most times he was facing the oncoming waves in the paddle boat. He went off on a side adventure to explore a beaver hole (LOL!) and I didn't see him for three days. Then magically he appeared in the bottom of the boat on the penult day of the trip. I left him with a River guide named Pablo to finish the lower half of the grand canyon (I could only do the upper half due to money/vacation time). Pablo is going to mail me Tunnel Rat later - by then I'm sure he will have explored many more beaver holes.

As I write this there are home theater guys wall mounting my TV on my wall and setting up my surround sound speaker system. Hopefully everything goes well and they do not call me on my cellphone to tell me they dropped the TV while attempting to mount it, or other stuff.
So by tonight my place will be all done I hope and I can just pay off all the crap I've bought for it.

I am very much enjoying "Tomb Raider: Legend" on my X-Box. The graphics are amazing and the level of detail that has gone into the environments and textures is really great. The character models are also very very nice. First time in memory when in game models I thought were effectively used in cinematics without illiciting the emotions described by uncanny valley paradigm. The sound effects are also top notch and the music is great. Best character controls (minus the swimming - the swimming blows) of any game I have played.

I am going to join a new gym near my new place as 24 hour fitness is no longer convenient. I am gonna go scope out this hard-ass Rocky-style gym a few blocks from where I work. unfortunately it opens at 7 am and closes at 8 pm [Frown] (

Also - remember how I said anything looks good in HD? That holds true for NBA basketball. I love it. Makes it an entirely different game imo.

One of the few funny bits in San Andreas is when James Woods explains that your imprisoned brother will receive "8 kilometers of cock" up his ass if you don't complete a task for him.

Last weekend headed up to Wyoming (South Central Carbon County). Chilled it old school and sipped on some Wild Turkey and lmaonade. Went to a rodeo, ate some burgers and brats. Shot a shit ton of prarie dogs with my ghat (.22).

Last night I cooked dinner for my dad - chicken breasts with green chiles on them and gorgonzola (baked) with wild rice and squash. Also bought him $50 of gas happy fathers day 2 u dad.

Turned on the TV after I took a bath with Mr. Bubble Wild Watermelon bubble bath. Man there is so much Soft porn on cable. Why on earth is it soft-porn? Like why not just show regular porn? I don't get it... Would it offend the people that watch soft porn (I doubt it)? Are there not enough safe guards currently available to keep the kiddies from accidentally stumbling upon it?

I guess I just don't understand the "Why stop there" part of it. Like why free T&A but costs $12 for Penis between T&A. Somewhere there must be a stipulation by the FCC something along the lines of: "No Cock in the pussy unless you pay special for it. Free boobs, occassional ass, a little muff else."

I heard an interview that since TV can't show sex they substitute violence for it; pretty strange that sex is taboo on TV but violence isn't (I AM THE FIRST PERSON TO EVER MAKE THAT POINT).

so basically you're a boring, uninteresting person who thinks being rich and constantly mentioning his rich-people toys is an acceptable substitute for being interesting. is that the gist of this thread or what, come on, were there even any friends at this party of yours, all you talked about was your ipod and golf and your deck the dj and fire dancer you hired

and now that i go and read your other posts in this thread i see your 60 inch plasma hdtv, i see an xbox, i see a price list of shit which i guess you only bought one of, i see a river rafting trip through the grand canyon, oh wow and some lame cockass story about you hurting a squirrel to show off how big your penis is, i see you shooting prarie dogs to pass the time, i see your home theater being set up, i see $50 dollars worth of gas

i dont see anything that anybody besides you would or could even begin to care about, your best friend seems to be your dad, you are just so boring and sad and the last piece clicked together in my head now, so i thought i should let you know. im curious if im just slow and everyone else has realized and moved past this all-encompassing facet of what i would unfortunately have to call your personality.

you are pretty much a kind of sentient cancer that the rest of the world has to put up with. carry on with your blog, try not to use too many dollar signs, and remember you've less than a year to join that super-interesting 27 club

rich? I wish! Buying a $2500 TV (the only TV I have *ever* bought) and owning an original x-box (only) hardly allows me to even pretend to be rich. How'd you get there? I'm sorry if my posting seems snobby - never been my intention. Oh yeah - renting a $90 kegerator for the summer and buying a keg for it. Woo-EE high class bling bling I must work overtime at McDonalds!

as for everything else this thread is just a stream of consciousness, so don't blame me for not dropping names of peeps you don't know... (wouldn't that be kinda weird?). But if you want to hear of the crazy antics of my friend cramming for the bar, the one who recently moved in with a girl he met off of J-Date, the bi-sexual receptionist from my office that I am currently dating, my best friend jon who has a faux hawk by all means I will attempt to streamline in their side stories.

as for shooting prarie dogs - yes it's very fun. And you don't really feel bad about it once you see them eat their own dead... and reproduce 10X faster than you could ever shoot them. But if you want to turn it into a rage filled angst-ridden Columbine thing because of your an early life experience watching bambi: [Roll Eyes] to you good sir.

Same thing for throwing the squirrel who was literally trying to tear the bag of m&ms from my hands. You're strange if you think I'm an asshole for standing up to the little fucker instead of posting an image of him on cute overload. and I never said I hurt him - I just threw him and he landed safely like Rocky J squirrel. I would do that to anyone or thing that attempted to gank my nuts. Do you get out of a city much?

other than that I'm not sure why you made your post... I support your critical thinking and yet do ask you to refrain from mind/personality reading :*

I liked your post about madagascar - I wish more people would add content to the azure forums. otherwise it's not very interesting

I saw the movie knocked up last night - it was pretty unremarkable. The truth is that anything that ever receives hype will be underwhelming.

Also Dave and Busters is kind of lame.

went to the donut store (Lamar's) on the way to work to get some donuts for the office. I don't eat donuts because they can have up to 5 grams of trans fat each (2% increase in trans fat intake increases your chance of heart disease by 50% according to here ); Trans fat is basically poison. Anyway I still love the smell of donuts and the idea of them. As soon as my own sentient cancer overwhelms my body and I am in a terminally ill condition I will eat donuts all day.

I picked out all the pretty ones for work. I wanted to lay out a tub of crisco alongside them with a spoon in the middle as a social commentary, but time did not allow the purchase of the crisco. Next time perhaps.

I was all excited today because it was the day that I was going to meet my "Little Brother". I applied to be a Big Brother over a month ago and they had to run a background check, check four different references and run my fingerprints. They also interviewed me three times and asked me waaay to many quesitons. All of which were basically "Hay are you a pervert trying to molest kids?". One of the questions they asked was what kind of pornography I was into. Well first they asked if I was into pornography and I told them yes. And then they asked if it was hetero/homo. Never really answered that question before. Kinda weird when you're not supposed to crack a smile. Anyway they matched me up with a little 7 year old hispanic kid who sounds really cute. I was supposed to meet him after work today but I guess his mom got the dates of a baseball game of his mixed up so it's postponed until sometime next week.

Last night my friend matt finished the bar exam. He is going to be working for the Colorado public defender's office. We went out with a bunch of our friends from highschool for a mexican dinner and then to this place to get margaritas because he's all about them. Long story short he ended up drinking whiskey with a presumedly homeless man on the 16th street mall (new bottle though) who was missing a lot of teeth and then started rapping for us. (He wasn't too bad but was crack-skinny). Then we went to Taco bell and then we went to this bar where we made the mistake of telling a female bartender that she was reallly shorter than the 5'4" she professed to be. When her co-workers confirmed this she never served us again so we went to a famous denver strip club called Shotgun Willies. By this time it was just matt and myself. He was really drunk but we got some beer and oogled the poor 19 year olds vying for daddy's attention. It was terrific. Unfortunately by the time matt made up his mind about the girl he wanted a lap tease from last call was over and she rejected my request for a lap dance for my friend. Which led to major self esteem loss by matt. Man if you get rejected by a stripper who you are paying?!!? lol it was funny though. First time I have had huge fake boobs rolled over my face. They were a lot softer and lighter than I would expect but alsomore fluid-y. Matt passed out on my couch at 2:30 am woot a great Wednesday and I procured many friend points

a lot has happened since the last post-

been to a couple of concerts (flaming lips and The Faint).

The Kid I was a Big Brother to moved so now I have a new one - his mom is like 25? and he's 8 ; he seems cool - only hung out once.

I lost a pie baking contest at work. homemade crust is really really hard to get right. I tried four different recipes and still couldn't get it right. Also the strawberry/rhubarb didn't turn out as well as hoped. I lost to some bish who bought her crust in the freezer section.

hmm what else...

I got a new gaming mouse for my computer - the Microsoft Sidewinder. All I use it for is wow though so i'm not exactly on the bleeding edge of its capabilities. big upgrade from my $12 target optical one that ate batteries like candy though.

The lease expired on the kegerator sometime ago - I returned it and got my $100 deposit back.

having a lot of fun following the Rockies post season run; hopefully they will win the World Series.

still dating the secretary from work - she is fun and nice and pretty. She's in love with me but I'm not with her so some things are a little ackward.

also one thing that's kind of weird is that I'm losing my sex drive a lot. Like it used to be that when I thought about sex I got horny. Now it's like when I think about sex I just think about what a pain in the ass it is to have sex (I always have to do all the work) and i'm always beat afterwards. First relationship I've been in when the girl wants sex 10x more than me. Maybe it's a sign that I am not that into her or maybe I need cialis or something. Maybe I'll try ginseng as when I was 16 and took it it made me super horny.

deprecated my cable subscription ; previously had all the movie channels but I rarely took advantage of them. So now I just turn on the news or sports center and play WOW on my computer with my back facing the TV and listen to the sound.

still no plans on getting a next generation system. Rarely play my xbox anymore - I got stuck on a level of tomb raider with no forseeable way to get to the next part and am too lazy to go online.

Indiana Jones 4 finishes filming this week for release summer of 2008. I am very excited [Big Grin]

some neighbors of mine that live in the same building text me when I was in KC two weeks ago asking if I would host some "Snuffles parties"; I was like "wtf is a snuffles party" apparently it is a cocaine party. I was a little pissed off that someone would just assume that I would be into cocaine but then I thought about it and determined that to people who do cocaine it is there way of marking someone else as cool or something. I made the mistake of telling my gf about it and she got all upset. The prudent thing to do would let the girl come over and blow, because she is a photographer and apparently knows lots of models. She at one point asked me if it would be cool to do photoshoots on my roof deck. But I think that's over now because I was so defensive about the whole "Cocaine party" request. I have talked to this girl like twice before and she asks me to host a cocaine party over a phone text message?

I am pet sitting my co-worker's hamster. last night I put him in his hamster ball and he rolled around my house. I have concrete floors so he got some pretty good speed going before he would run into shit. I give him back on monday.

went to Kansas City two weeks ago for the American Royal BBQ competition. Some friends of the family were competing and I got to taste some good stuff. Had some Winsteads while I was there (so $$) and borrowed my Mom's Harry Potter book (the last one)

my attention span is declining quickly - It feels like the ADD is somehow getting worse. Hard to concentrate at work.

Based on the newspaper headlines this morning (all variations on "FTSE meltdown we're all screwed"), no.

Although I don't even know what 'Tang' is, so perhaps no loss.

10k's pad was fancypants. he has a TV that is larger than mine (but with fewer pixels!) and also a sweet lighting arrangement. we played a lot of retro games and also an incredible soccer game involving Sega.

sometime in the near future we are hoping to go bother him again (hopefully with a fourth player) so we can finally fulfill our lifelong goals of beating one of those shitty four-player hack and slash co-op games.

Man I got a modded sega genesis off of ebay with s-video output, Stereo Audio jacks out, and a japanese region switch. It is so boss.

I can't wait until my Sega CD version 1 gets back from the Old School Gamer vintage console repair service (http://www.oldschoolgamer.ca/). It was actually already repaired but it was damaged via UPS on the trip back to me.

I spent a lot of money on sega games via ebay and then discovered out what Bit torrent was for.

epic fail.

So if I were in Colorado, could I print off that image and steal your ticket?

if you cared enough you probably could figure out a way - but supposedly you need my credit card to extract my ticket from the kiosk. However with a little effort you might be able to convince phone support that your credit card was stolen. but maybe they would need the email connected to the account for verification? who knows.
