I came across a web page which gave Moltres' Pokedex entry as "Known as the legendary bird of fire..." I was all set to correct them, but decided to check first to make sure. I booted up a Blue ROM, and found this:

According to this site, none of the Pokedex entries say "chicken of fire". Where did the "chicken" wording come from, if not the games? (There are a handful of sites with that wording, so Azure isn't the only one.)

That's great.

I changed it to "chicken" because Moltres is lame. I would have made more changes if I knew people were going to steal our data.

I would assume the entry was intentionally changed as a bit of a joke among the staff.

It would be safe to say that since Azure was one of the earlier and premier Pokémon sites, other sites copied their information from here.

Nice find, but I would imagine that Moltres looks like a chicken anyway.

Wow, the gag there really does write itself.

Anyway, I didn't want to fill the thing with lies, I just wanted to put a subtle gag in there for the observant.

Also it would have been pretty cool if you'd tried to correct them.
