Original Title: "Important for all potential F-Zero owners"

http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=0&products_id=2359&

This is lik-sang's 64 whatever, a USB memory card that will hook to your Gamecube.

For whatever ungodly reason, I discovered this morning before my flight that the fags at Nintendo had decided to make my game data "uncopyable"- because they control both hardware and software, this kind of nonsense is possible.

What this means is that my F-Zero GX data is fated to die a slow death, like all F-Zero data (it's a curse of mine).

I am not ok with this.

If, however, you *begin* your save on the USB memory card here, your data can escape to your PC, a floppy, the whole world! It is amazing or something.

Anyway, it costs about 40 + 8-22 for shipping, depending on how fast you want it. I've already placed my order, so I'll have a review for you guys next week. If it's good I'll coordinate a group buy if enough people want this product (the price goes to a little over 30 at 5 products, I believe).

This will also help with PSO and Animal Crossing data, along with any other nonsense Nintendo manages to come up with subsequently.

OK, I know I'm probably not the nicest Pokemon Trainer when it comes to giving advice, and if I get flamed on this, it is probably well deserved. So here goes...

cfalcon, and other USB memory card azurians for that matter, I already have one of those USB Memory Cards, so if you guys ever want to swap files out, let me know... it's pretty good, every so often it crashes and you lose all the data on your memory card and it has to be re-formatted, but that's why you back it up every now and then on your c:\

Just reformat and reupload to the card and you're good to go again, just backup every so often...

edit: P.S. cfalcon, do you have Animal Crossing? If so, I can make you a town that has all the rare NES games in it (like Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros, etc...)

Also, it'll be good for when Pokémon Box comes out. The software that comes with the USB Mem card has a built in hex editor so if you know what you're doing you can edit the hex of your save file itself, heh-heh-heh...

The "Do Not Copy" flag for F-Zero data is probably due to the AX linking doohickey or something. None of the other big Nintendo games that I own have it set.

It'll probably be fixed for the US/PAL versions, since the AX link has been removed.

AX is coming out in the US, so the AX links will not be removed.

I dunno about the Brits.

But it's moderately likely that they'll keep the annoying things, if only by accident.

Built in hex editor? I can still save the file and such without much effort?

I have to ask, what is the "AX thing" ?

Is that the thing that lets you post your best times online? How does it work? Thanks...

There's 4 (I think so, anyway) "AX tracks" which can be unlocked in one of two ways:

1) Easy - go to an arcade, play one of those tracks on an AX machine and save progress to your GCN memory card.
2) Hard - beating each of the Grand Prixes on the highest difficulty setting will unlock one track each time.

You can also bring your custom racer in on a memory card and use it in an AX machine.
