I didn't care for the seventh movie much, mainly because the main characters (AshCo) were mostly bystanders and had almost nothing to do with saving the day. (The fifth movie suffered from largely the same problem.) All they did was stand around and watch the Rayquaza vs. Deoxys battle, and run around trying to save themselves in a tacked-on ending (which admittedly was pretty good in itself).

Also, the idea that their Pokeballs wouldn't work without the city's electrical power was an incredibly stupid plot device. (How the heck do they work when a trainer is out in the middle of the wilderness, genius?) If they really needed to keep AshCo's Pokemon incapacitated (which I doubt), they could have just said that the city's power problems were causing interference that jammed the Pokeball's electronics or something.

Anyway, I'd rank the Pokemon movies from best to worst as follows:

Pokemon 3
Pokemon 4Ever
Jirachi Wishmaker
Pokemon 2000
Destiny Deoxys
Pokemon Heroes
The First Movie

No way, what made this movie good was that the twerps were just bystanders. I hate it when the twerps end up saving the world. I do not want the world saved by an idiot and an annoying rat.

[Trash Bear] We need a TrashLax icon, stat. [Trash Bear]

Although TR's lack of participation does score this movie minus points.

Worst to best: (assume japanese subtitled versions unless otherwise noted)

Pokemon 3 Entei [dub]
Destiny Deoxys 7
Jirachi 5 Jirachi
Pokemon 8 Mew and the guiding wave.
Pokemon Heroes 6
Pokemon 4 Celebi
Pokemon 2000 (2)(dub) TIE!
The First Movie TIE!

The third movie (with Entei and Unown) blew! It should have been about Houou for cryin out loud! One legendary dog and a bunch of alphabet characters don't make a movie.

Destiny Deoxys made little sense overall. Rayqauaza sure was a bitch to travel half way around the world just to fight.

Jirachi was ok. The DUB WAS PATHETIC!!! Subtitled version gets 20 extra points.

Heroes... once again, subtitled = the rock Better than jirachi by at least a factor of 2.

Celebi, the last great movie they made (subtitled ver). The DUB CHANGED THE MOVIE'S PLOT FOR DUMB AMERICANS! The subbed ver will almost make you cry and invokes sublimity! Watch it!

Pokemon 2000 and and the first movie, I can't decide, they both rock for their own reasons. The first movie subtitled gives WAY more depth into mewtwo's character and his intentions... The dub is NOTHING like the real jpn ver.

Pkmn 2000 had articuno, zapdos, and moltres, PLUS lugia! It was just TOO good!

The soon to be released 8th movie has MEW in it again. I am guessing based on trailers and coolness where it fits. Mew transforms into Houou and also a Pikachu/Mew Hybrid it seems. That alone is worth seeing.

/end review.

edit:
Also, the idea that their Pokeballs wouldn't work without the city's electrical power was an incredibly stupid plot device.

It WAS a stupid plot device, but it wasn't because the POWER was out they didn't work, it was the interferance caused by deoxys. I actually thought it was sorta cool cause it gave some depth into how the pokeball itself works. But hey, maybe it was just a lame plot(fix/hole).

Don't get me started on how they have contradicted themselves about Pokéball use in the past however. If the 8th movie (which seems to involve time travel to ancient past) has trainers using "regular Pokéballs I'll be pissed"

The Jirachi movie (which time period was only like 40-50 years ago) had people using 100% non-electric Pokéballs (they looked like they were made from coconuts or something, probably apricorns), yet, in the ancient sunken ship episode with gastly and haunter and the orange cup trophy, 100+ year old Pokéballs looked just like current ones!

I admittely haven't seen but portions of a few of the cinematic adventures. I haven't ever been too big a fan of the anime. I do however cry at the end of some episodes when some random pokemon's hustle went unnoticed and it does something noble and altruistic. I also concur with sama we definately need hoopshootin' trashlax.

I disagree with you with every fibre of my being. More dubs should aspire to be this good.

"One legendary dog". Did you like Disney's "The Dog King"? I thought Scar got all the good lines.
