Is Emerald like a Crystal version of RuSa, or a Crystal version of Fire Red/Leaf Green?

In other words, if I want the RBY remake, can I wait until Emerald is released, or Fire Red/Leaf Green the way to go?

Emerald is a new version of the Ruby?Sapphire games and is set in the Hoenn region, so if you want to visit Kanto once more, go for FireRed/LeafGreen.

Yeah. Right now, FR/LG is your Kanto fix. Lots of improvements over R/B/Y but it's the same overall. I won't hold my breath for a third counterpart to FR/LG, but you never know. Only thing on the horizon is Pearl and Diamond.
