I have a simple question that I have wondered a lot about:

Are rock/some other type but not ground-types protected from Electric attacks?

Take Aerodactyl and Omastar as an example. The flying or water type would make them 2x weak against electric, but since they're both half rock, will electric leave them untouched? Or will it hurt them 2x?

Poorly phrased question but I'll try to answer it anyway.

Electric is normally effective against rock types (I tried using Thunderbolt on a Tyranitar). Meaning in the case of Omastar or Aerodactyl being half rock does nothing for them against an electric type. They're protected about as much as Pidgeot is from a Thunderbolt attack.

Type Ground is the only type completely resistant to Electric attacks.

Grass, Electric and Dragon type Pokemon have 50% resistance to Electric attacks.

Let's examine more closely.

Clefairy has Thunderbolt and will attack the following:

Onix (Rock/Ground):
Damage multiplier= 1*0=0

Omastar (Rock/Water)
Damage multiplier= 1*2=2

Exeggutor (Grass/Psychic)
Damage multiplier= 0.5*1=0.5

Dragonite (Flying/Dragon)
Damage multiplier= 2*0.5=1

Gyarados (Flying/Water)
Damage multiplier= 2*2=4

Pikachu (Electric)
Damage multiplier= 0.5

That sounds exactly like Lt. Surge. How is it possible that he's from New York City? Do they even have NYC in Pokemon? Heh-heh. And why did a Gym Leader only have one Pokemon in the anime? Or did they declare it a 1-on-1 battle? I forget...

They had Hollywood in the anime; why not New York?
