I looked at Gamefaqs, and that didn't help. I got to trainer 8's last Pokémon, but he then wiped out my whole slew of 3! Please, somebody help me! I'm a strict non-GSer (after what happened to Super Smash Bros.) but I really need Doduo Mode! I have the player's guide, but the teams Nintendo suggest suck. Anybody? Any don't bash on me just because I'm only there. I've already beaten the Elite Four and Rival thrice.

Don't feel bad, it took me awhile to get there too. The team he used against me was:

1.Electrode
2.Snorlax
3.Mew

The team I used was:

Articuno
Starmie
Exeggcutor

I suggest something with good Special, Speed and Defense, although I didn't use one, maybe a Ground type to withstand the Thunder Waves.

I didn't have too much trouble with this...

I used Alkazam, Mew, and Jolteon. Jolteon came out first and did damage, then Alkazam came out and did damage. After both of their strong attacks, the enemy team was in bad shape, and Alkazam's high-special Psychic had no trouble knocking them down.

What are the opponents and your Pokemon?

I had problems with the old geezer myself. I solved them with the Rental Rhyhorn. It whooped his butt up and down the block. I had the Legendary Birds, the Rhyhorn, Rental Kadabra, and one other Pokemon that never came out.

Bah, I had a complete rental walkthrough on gamefaqs boards, but it got to unread and was deleted when it reached the black hole at the end of the board. I'll see if I can get it back.

Here's all the help I can give using all rentals r1:

stadium pokeball/master cup:
Here are the best I could find for the job.
Note: These are not mine, they are rentals so don't yell at me about them.

Arcanine lv. 50:
-Substitute
-Dragon Rage
-Take Down
-Fire Blast

Poliwhirl lv. 50:
-Earthquake
-Ice Beam(neeed this to beat the old mans dragonite)
-surf
-Hypnosis

Kadabra lv. 50:
-Counter
-Dig
-Recover
-Psychic

Tangela lv. 50:
-Mega Drain
-Growth
-Double Edge
-Toxic

Zapdos lv. 50:
-Flash
-Thunderbolt
-Thunder Wav3e
-Sky attack

Rhyhorn lv. 50 :
-Rock Slide
-Eartgquake
-Bodyslam
-Fire Blast(eww)

>-- Thats it, I used this and beat it a second time this morning with this team. Lousy
nintendo doesn't like to use defensive moves on rentals, so this was the best I could do.

>-- If someone has a better rental team please post it.

>-- I still recomend training some for this cup because you can't rely on the rentals in round
two.

The team I used that are trained:
-Exeggutor: Sleep powder, double edge, psychic, mega drain
-Arcanine lv. 50: Fire blast, reflect, Body slam, dig
-Sandslash lv. 50: Slash, earthquake, rockslide, sand attack
-Zapdos lv. 55: Drill peck, thunderbolt, forget, forget
-Gyarados lv. 55: Blizzard, body slam, hydro pump, thunderbolt
-Gengar lv. 55: Psychic, hypnosis, seismic toss, mega drain

Hints for beating the old man: Ice is a must, due to his ledgendary birds and dragonite is
weak to it. Also bring in an electric.
