Okay, so I bred my Exploud to have Smellingsalt. I have 3 other pokemon on my team that have Paralysis-causing moves, but Exploud itself doesn't.

Now, I found that Secret Power has a 30% Paralysis chance, 70 power (in Link battles), and Exploud can learn it.

Do you think that it's worth the fact to only have a 70 base power move w/70 power Smellingsalt (my only 2 attacks, the other two are Screech and Rest)

Is it a good idea, or should I stick with a higher power Normal move and just rely on the other Paralysis-inducing pokes on my team?

FYI, Meowth says Smellingsalt is only 60 BP. Doubling that plus STAB is still a good hit, so it's not really central to the argument.
I'm leaning towards Return (unless you're thinking Hyper Beam) so that you can actually knock somebody when you need to, instead of hoping to cause paralysis on a 30% chance before you can use a powerful move.
Think of how it would be in the battle. Say you go with SP. If your opponent isn't already paralyzed (or he already got the Salt-whomp) you have to settle for a 70 BP move, until the paralysis finally takes hold.
Even if it works the first time, and you Salt the second turn, you've only thrown 70+120=190 BP at him. If they come in unparalyzed and you have Return, you can dish 102+102=204 BP in 2 turns.
I vote rely on your teammates for paralysis.

Doesn't secret power's effect depend on location? I swear I have seen it flinch other pokemon.

Online battling is always 30% paralysis....

Maybe it's the "indoors" battling or something.

Hey, that was my, what, 2nd flaming post during my, oh.... year or two at Azure? I don't just do that to anyone.

Besides, I can sometimes offer good advice, like...

See? I did something good... (Took me 3 waves of the game series to do something good AND first, but I did it!)

Secret Power is effected by the conditions.

Mountain battles usually cause Flinch

if you fight in Rainy Weather route 119 to 120 causes Paralysis

You fight under water samething paralysis

Dun remember the Desert effect.

Inside caves usually you cause flinch.

Dunno bout firary path

Secret power works well while catching tough pokemon.
