  • "Essential Calculus", Stewart 2nd Edition.

    An accesscode for WebAssign (used for the homework) must be bundled with the new textbook purchased through the UM Bookstore. The homework using this book will be assigned and completed in WebAssign (http://www.webassign.net/). To get enrolled in the course in WebAssign you need to use also the Class Key: miami 5323 7530

  Contents:

  • Chapters 1, 2, 3(except 3.6), 4 and 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3(if time permits).

• GRADING ELEMENTS:

  There will be graded homework through WebAssign (30%), 2 Midterms (20% each) and one Final (30%).

  0-Attendance: Attendance will be recorded. If you miss 0,1 or 2 classes, 1% point will be added to your final grade average, if you miss 3,4 nothing will happen to your final grade, if you miss 5,6 classe 2% will be taken from your final grade average, you you miss 7 or more classes 5% points will be taken from your grade average. If you miss a class an OFFICIAL excuse must be given for this miss not to be counted.

  1-Homework (30%)

  The homework will be assigned and completed in WebAssign (http://www.webassign.net/).

  3- Midterms (20% each)

  There are NO MAKE UP midterms unless there is an OFFICIAL letter from the Dean of students with such request. The midterms will be done in the recitation class.

  Midterm 1: Monday, June 9th

  Midterm 2: Monday, June 23rd

  4- Final (30%)

  The final exam will be cumulative and will be done IN THE LAST DAY OF CLASS (not the exam day). Final: Wednesday June 25th

  Grade Scale:

  • (A-,A,A+): >90%
  • (B-,B,B+): 80-90%
  • (C-,C,C+): 70-80%
  • (D,D+): 60-70%
  • F: <60%
