Hello!

I am a mathematician with a focus on the liberal arts. I believe that the practice of mathematics is not separable from its history and its philosophy. Modern mathematical research is completely incomprehensible to the outsider (or even to the professional mathematician down the hall), yet there must be some sense in it. I believe that it is possible and desirable to explain mathematics to a wider audience.

I joined the University of Miami mathematics faculty in 2009. If you are looking for the Drew Armstrong who grew up on St. Joseph Island, was an undergrad at Queen's University (Kingston), was a grad student at Cornell University, and was a postdoc at the University of Minnesota, then you've found him.
