TA for the lab: Elizabeth Martin; e.martin@math.miami.edu

Homework: There will be homework assignments due every week at the beginning of the Thursday class, starting with January 24. The assignments will be mostly problems from the textbook. A small selection of problems from each assignment will be graded. Late homework will not be accepted.

Homework Grader: David Neal; d.neal@math.miami.edu

Midterm Exams:        Exam 1: February 14, Thursday.

 Exam 2: March 20, Thursday.

 Exam 3: April 17, Thursday.

Final Exam (cumulative): 8:00 am ¨C 10:30 am, May 7, Wednesday.

Calculators: No calculators will be allowed in the exams.

Grading policy: The course grade will be computed according to the following weighting system:

            Homework:                   10%

            Lab assignments:           10%

            Midterm exams:            45% (15% each)

            Final exam:                   35%

For final course grade, an overall score of 90% and above will definitely be an A, above 80% definitely a B, above 70% a C. This scale may be adjusted according to the difficulty of the exams. Makeup exams will not be given except with documented medical excuse.

Incompletes will be given only in exceptional circumstances, where the student has completed almost the entire course with a passing grade, but something unexpected happens to prevent completion of the course. In particular, incompletes will not be given to avoid Fs. See me if something occurs which makes you think you should receive an incomplete.
