Topology, Second Edition, by James R. Munkres, Prentice Hall, 2000

Course content

This is the first semester of the introductory topology course. We will cover basics of set theory and general topology, including the definition and examples of topological spaces and their properties such as compactness and connectedness. All of this material (and more) is contained in the first eight chapters of the textbook.

Homework

The homework will be assigned during the class. Homework assignments can also be found at http://www.math.miami.edu/~saveliev/hwk531.html.  The homework will be collected and graded. The homework assigned during any given week will be collected on Thursday next week.

Tests

There will be two exams whose time will be announced at least two weeks in advance. There will be no final exam.
