Remarks: I was just looking, for nothing in particular...and everything in general...I came across this site...I get an idea of something that I have been thinking about ....maybe for years or it could have just come to me and I will start looki ng for something about it...I tend to find that I will get taken on tangents and end up looking at something else thati may have found interesting...I remember being given this book " The Prophet" we were give a list of books as selected readings that we should finish by graduation...no assigned or required but recommended...and we could choose from this list at any time should there be a reading assignment in which we must pick a book ....I never read this book...and it has been a funny feeling with me f or years and years ...that I have never read it..I rember seeing the cover....and always finding it very curious...and as curious as I was I never pursued it...which is odd and quite to the contrary for me...the minute I notice something..I start looking into it ..finding out...but I never did with this book...and last night...I had to find it ...' I want to find an onine library....that I can read from...can someone help me

In this world where thoughts and ideas are so easily distorted, his words are refreshingly clear and make pure and utter sense. I read passages in The Prophet a nd just think, "yeah, that's it." Remarks: peace to you all it is a pleasure to know that there are so many among us that share the same intrest in the works ofthe great thinker, writer,poet,philospher Kahlil Gibran it is really a soothing experience to read Gibran's work in this fast paced world of work, voilence....,it is true when Gibran writes"love is stronger than death and death is stronger than life,it is sad that men divide amongst themselves" most of his works are a pleasure to read, but my favorites are "ambitious voilet", "song of the wave" and "prophet" although i am an avid reader of Gibran, there are some points on which i find that he is contradicting his own point of thought for example in one verse he is saying,"the coin which you drop in the withered hand stretching toward you is the only golden chain that binds your rich heart to the loving heart of God" whereas in the other verse he say's " how painful is the preaching of the fortunate to the heart of the miserable and how severe is the strong when he stand's as advisor among the weak" .these are the points on which i don't agree,because in the first in stance he is encouraging the giving of alms to the poor ,in other words to feel sympathetic towards the plight of the poor, whereas in the other verse he is descouraging the sentiment of sympathy when he say's"how painful is ............" this is where i don't agree and the point of cotradiction lies because the fortunate feels the plight of the miserable that is why he preaches him and the strong knows the despair of the weak that is why he advises him to be strong other wise why would on e bother on advising or preaching others.in one instance he is encouraging the sentiment of sympathy and in the other one he is descouraging it. these are the moments when i feel how enlightening it would have been if Gibran was among us to clear such confusions

Remarks: What can i say that can be saif in words? should i confine myself to sentences? Kahlil Gibran is a true poet. Before i walked in a desert of pain and hopelessness, and he showed me the oasis that existed within the dunes of sand, and showed me how to find the water of life amid the cracked and parched rocks. He showed me the light by showing to me the darkest corners... to express more would be to ruin the beauty of these feelings... Please anyone write to me- the only element in life that keeps us alive is our existance in the thoughts of others,- to be clinical numbers on a page is not an existance... Remarks: I was introduced this book by my friend, and soulmate if you wil. Another seeker of wisdom. I picked it up, and read the first page. Then I saw, "The Treasured Writings of Kahlil Gibran" and read some quotes on Love, etc. I purchase d both. I would like to find the compilation of his love letters with Mary Haskell. I just finished "The Prophet" I was at first confused by the "another woman will bear me" until the last paragraph, when she stood and pondered and I realized she was t o continue his teachings as well as her own. How many of us, understand and look at life in this way? It's sad really but can we not learn, that since we understand this book and that all things are contradictions, that we should enlighten others? How many religions teach only the teachings instead of trying to discipline us into their morals and believe that they are the true church? And why do they only teach one section of the bible at a time (a topic if you will)? But not for that purpose. There is much to learn from all things. Yet often we are only taught a small part and must seek more.

I had to find another book by this author, and I did. My way of thinking and my desire to acheive mentally and emotionally hasn't been the same.
