Those names are EXTREMELY lame. I mean, come on, POOchyena? Sol-rock?
The only good name is Deoxys.
I highly doubt any of this is final.

The only remotely believable one is Zigzagoon. But then, when the initial list of GS names came out, there were a few that were right... (And a few that were in the wrong places. Skarmory as Wooper?)
Deoxys is cool, though. ~Uiru

Has anyone noticed that these are just romanizations of the original names? I mean, Roselia? Do they honestly believe that this isn't just the pronunciation of Rozeria? Hoeruko and Subame are the only ones with original names. I'd like to see where this "DrunkMagikoopa" got this info. Meowth's site has had them since last week, and I doubt they are the real English names.
And Uiru: I remember those days. Heh, "Torvado" [ 01-20-2003, 10:56 PM: Message edited by: Dark_Herakurosu ]

There's currently a hunt going on at the Pokémasters forums. I believe a lot of those names may have originated from that thread.
EDIT: And looking at the thread once again, it appears Wallo was a decoy name. [ 01-21-2003, 05:39 AM: Message edited by: PikachuThunder ]

Wooper was called Ampharos for the longest time... have some pics of it saved under the name Ampharos on my comp, heh...
What else was there? Misdreavus was the name for Sneasle, Girafarig was guessed well in advanced (By Pokemon Aaah! for one...)... And wasn't Torvado what they were calling Piloswine?
As for these names... Zangoose? True, it will probably have a Mongoose bit in it, but probably something closer to 'I-have-big-friggen-claws-and-a-lightning-bolt'-Goose than Zangoose. Donmel? Lunaton? These names sound both fake, and stupid.

I think there was also confusion over who would be named Wobbuffet. I think Qwilfish was given that name for a while.
What does 'Zan' mean, anyway? The Monster Rancher series boasts a kick ass demon ninja with that name.

Zan means quick. I think it might also mean strong, but I'm not sure. Zanguusu is indeed fast, and it's reasonably strong too. (Atk equal to that of certain obese overused pokemons)

Sol-Rock is simply a translation of Soru-Rokku. I see nothing wrong with it.
Deoxys is also a translation of Deokishisu. Deokishisu's name is derived from the Japanese word "deokishiribo kakusan" which means deoxyribo nucleic acid (DNA). It makes sense when you read it's Pokedex info.

They are direct translations of the original names. O_o
This reminds me of when people complained about the name "Unown". I remember people saying "They should have kept the original name!". They did. ¬_¬ "Annoon" is the English word "unknown". Nintendo of America couldn't copyright an actual word so they removed the "k".

I'd think it would be Solarock. Deoxys sounds kinda cool, but most of the names are pretty lame in their current state.

I think they should capture more of the "thunder" part of the name, but because "Thundermongoose" sounds stupid and is too long, I instead nominate… Thongoose.

Not only that, but Deoxys is the actual pronunciation of the Japanese name. 'Deo' is obvious, given theat it's in both. 'Kishis' is misleading because of pronunciation differences; the h isn't really pronounced loudly. And the u is silent. So we end up with 'Deoksis'. Keeping the 'space virus' idea from FF.. I mean the PokeNavi entry, it is further shortened to 'Deoxys'.

No, a decoy created by the person who's been finding these names so he'd know who's copying from him.
But anyway, go to http://pocket.ign.com/articles/383/383300p1.html and you'll see screenshots of the English version, along with confirmed names:
Zigzagoon is indeed the English name of Jiguzaguma.
Subame's English name is Taillow.
and Eneko's name in English is Skitty.

The recent issue of Nintendo Power has revealed some more names ...
Kyamome - Wingull Taneboo - Seedot Hasuboo - Lotad Kemusso - Wurmple
It also confirmed that Poochyena is Pochiena's English name.
Odamaki is Professor Birch, Kotoki Town is Oldale Town, and another place is Rustboro City (I'm not sure which city this is).
Brace yourself people, it seems that "Hoenn" is official. Ugh. That's the worst spelling of Houen I've ever seen. O.o

Tghost: Oldale is Kotoki Town, not Mishiro.
Purple Lanturn: It's Lotad, not Leotad. I assume it's derived from lotus and tadpole. O.o And I see no problem with Zigzagoon since it's as close to Jiguzaguma as one can get in the English language.
