  Text: Zill, Dennis G. A first Course in Differential Equation with Modeling Applications, 2009 Brooks/Cole, Ninth edition.
  Description: The course is an introduction to ordinary differential equations (ODEs) for science and engineering majors.
  Prerequisites: Algebra, one variable calculus, linear algebra helpful, not a prerequisite.
  
  

• Homework (100 points): A list of problems will be provided from each chapter. This is your suggested homework assignment.
  The problems marked with a star will be graded.
  
  
• Exams :
  Midterm 1 (100 points) - 10/2
  Midterm 2 (100 points) - 11/13
  Check the exams link for review problems, sample tests, updates related to the exams.
  
  
• Final (200 points): The final is comprehensive.
  
  Grading policy:
  - The lowest score among the homework and the exams is dropped.
  - The total score for the term will be the sum of the best three scores from homework (100), exams (100 each) and final (200) - maximum 500 points.
  - you cannot graduate the class without the final.
  - for the midterms and the final, you are allowed to use a letter size formula sheet.
  - Your actual letter grade will be graded on a curve depending on the overall performance of the class.
  - all tests are closed book and closed notebook - calculators are allowed.
  - you must show your work in order to obtain credit
  - you are responsible for material covered in class even if it is not present in the textbook.
  
  
• General rules:

  - the most updated information about homework, exams, labs and schedule changes is given in class. It is your obligation to attend class.
  - all tests are closed book and closed notebook, but a one page formula sheet is allowed.
  - you must show your work in order to obtain credit.
  - basic calculators are allowed but graphing calculators are not allowed during the exams unless announced otherwise.
  - the honor code is strictly enforced
