Computer Science Seminars

Welcome to CSC405: Computer Science Seminars. Department of Computer Science wishes you a happy, healthy, and successful semester.

Textbook:
There is no textbook.
You might consult The Elements of Style by W. Strunk, Jr. and E.B. White for grammar.
Also read some movie or book reviews in The Miami Herald or The NY Times.

Seminars -- Time and Place:
Usually on Wednesdays 6:00 - 7:00 PM.
Seminars will be virtual. Each week, you will receive a link to a seminar you need to watch.
Occasionally, there will be additional seminars at other times.

Attendance:
10 Seminars per semester.

Reports:
Five 500-word reports are required. To get a writing credit, five 800-word reports are required.
Each report should include an introduction, providing information about the speaker, the title, abstract, place, date, and time of the seminar. A body of one or more paragraphs should explain the content of the seminar. Make certain to include critical remarks and personal observations about what you did and did not like about the seminar and its presentation.

Report submission:
Please e-mail me copy of your report within two weeks of the seminar.
You will receive feedback and the opportunity to improve your report for a final submission.

Grading:
Your grade will be based on seminar reports (70%) and attendance (30%).
