Syllabus Math 210

  • Ungar Building, Office 401: 2-3pm Tuesdays and Thursdays

• Texts:
  • "Introduction to LINEAR ALGEBRA", Gilbert Strang 4th Edition (or 3rd Edition), if you have not yet bought the book then buy the 4th edition.

• Contents:
  • Chapters 1-6
  • If time permits we will cover some material in Chapter 7 or some applications in Chapter 8.

• Grading: There will be quizzes, 3 Midterms and one Final. THERE WILL BE NO MAKE-UP MIDTERMS. The method to obtain your grade will be the best one (for you) of these two:
  • The best two Midterms counting for 50%, quizzes counting for 10% and the Final counting for 40%.
  • All the Midterms counting for 60%, quizzes counting for 10% and the Final counting for 30%.

  Grading scale:

  • (A-,A,A+): >90%
  • (B-,B,B+): 80-90%
  • (C-,C,C+): 70-80%
  • (D,D+): 60-70%
  • F: <60%

• Homework and quizzes:
  • The homework will be posted every Friday. I will not grade the homework but every Thursday starting September 3th there will be a quiz which consists of one question of the homework assigned in the previous week (also at least 80% of the Midterms and Final will be based on the homework).
