(Some) Knot Theory in Lens Spaces

Friday, October 5th, 2018, 5:00pm
Ungar Building Room 402

Abstract:

Knot theory is an important tool in low dimensional topology. In this talk
I aim to give a flavor of some of the differences between studying knots in
the three sphere and studying knots in other three manifolds, specifically
lens spaces. There will be an introduction to a few concepts and tools of
knot theory in the three sphere and in lens spaces to highlight some of the
differences between them.
